Guest guest
Hi . I don't have it that hard. My ex and I share custody 50/50 so I only have her every other week. I miss her, but I use the week she is with her dad to rest and do things like clean and grocery shop. This makes it easier when she is with me and I can focus on doing things she wants to do. It is hard for her to understand why there are times I can't carry her or why I have to take a nap if we are planning to go to the park. I take my mtx on Saturdays and with folic acid, I've not had a problem with side effects. Ask your doctor about the folic acid, I know you are in a money crunch, but I think folic acid is pretty cheap. The prescription is a lot higher dose than you'd find in a over the counter vitamin. If you don't want to do it to help the nausia, do it so your hair doesn't start falling out. Not that you'll go bald, but it can thin quite a bit. My mom was on mtx for over 10 years and her hair was always falling out. Of course, if you have to wait a month to get on it, you'll survive, just ask your rheumy when you have insurance for sure. My mom always tells me to make a list of things I want to talk to my rheumy about. She's right, if I don't write it down I get to the appt and forget all the things I wanted to ask. I've had this RA for more than a year and this last visit was only the second time I walked in with a list. It was great, because I felt I got more out of the visit. Plus when I call my mom after the visit and she says, " what did he say about xxx " I actually have an answer. Hope you do feel better today. Last time, especially, the doc was hurried, and because of her stress/pace, it felt more difficult to bring things up during the exam. She had her routine, her questions for me. But when I unfolded my list, there were all of the things that were important to me. As I went through it, she seemed to slow down and relax a bit, and I felt we had a good connection. S. Guest guest
When they can take their own showers things get much easier, at least until they want to start driving, then I'd rather they be little and give them baths again. Much easier! Becky [ ] to Jennie Wow Jennie, A financial analyst and have a four year old! You must be busy! I thought I was busy with three but my youngest is nine so everyone sleeps through the night and can take a shower! Ahhhhh... Makes it alot easier and I am spoiled now! Thanks for the advice on the sun. I am going to really watch it - especially here in so cal - it is brutal right now. I feel ALOT better today. I am tired, but what day am I not! I will be doing my doses on weekends from now on, that is for sure. in CA > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > I got put on this because my rate was high and my rheumy > > decided > > > > > > that waiting until September until my insurance came > through > > was > > > > > too > > > > > > long. Guest guest
When does that start, the self showering? My biggest hurdle in the mornings is getting my daughter to wake up, and I imagine that will continue for a long time. It's that much harder now because I fight waking up too. I just have no motivation in the mornings to get up since the RA. I used to blame it on the stiffness but now that the Humira is working so well and I barely have any stiffness, I still don't want to get up. > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > I got put on this because my rate was high and my rheumy > > > decided > > > > > > > that waiting until September until my insurance came > > through > > > was > > > > > > too > > > > > > > long. Guest guest
For boys it's earlier because they have short hair, at least mine did. The shampoo rinses out easily. My daughter always had long hair so that was much later. The boys were around 6-7, my daughter around the same age except I always had to do shampoo her hair and condition it. Guest guest
You know Jennie - I really had to push that one. I was really lucky because i had two that were really really close in age (hee hee...a little present from God, that last one was)... so they started showering together and then the big shower wasn't so scary. I would say about 7 or so. Gosh, I am trying to remember. But life became so much easier on these milestones - when they could get into the carseat by them selves, buckle themselves, dress themselves...etc. Yes, the baby days are missed, but then I get the beautiful things too - we have " sleepover with mom " once a month or so and each one gets a turn. I work so much and it gives each of them a special night. My youngest wraps her arms around me all night and won't let go. The last time she looked at me and told me " mommy, I love you so much my heart hurts and it is going to explode! " You are so beautiful. Did that make me cry or what! So there are wonderful things along the way too that make up for losing babyhood too... I have trouble waking up too...I am so tired and have trouble putting one foot in front of the other. I have had to pull over on the road and snooze for a while because I found that I was not safe driving to the next client. I am wondering how long I will be able to work and then what? I have no child support coming in...who will support them? Scary! in CA and > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > > I got put on this because my rate was high and my > rheumy > > > > decided > > > > > > > > that waiting until September until my insurance came > > > through > > > > was > > > > > > > too > > > > > > > > long. Guest guest
I think about my mom and I wonder how she did it. I was in 7th grade when she was diagnosed, my sister is almost three years younger than me. She was put on aspirin for pain and nothing else. The disease raged havoc on her body. There were days she could not get out of bed, or when she would set the alarm before dawn because it was going to take her 3 hours to be able to move. It was so scary, we thought she was going to die but we didn't tell her that. The fear was partially from having just lost our father (they were divorced) the year before her diagnosis. Somehow she managed to get to work enough to keep making a living. Somehow she managed to save some money for college. We never had a lot, but we had a roof over our heads and we had our mom so that was enough. Now I look at all these drugs I am on and I don't think I could have done what she did. She remarried shortly after I graduated from high school. My sister and I were glad for that because we would not have both been able to move away from home otherwise. She got SS disability nearly 2 years ago when she finally had to admit she couldn't work any more. Of course, that was after a brain aneurysm, brain surgery and the start of constant mini seizures (due to the brain surgery) and after the erosion nearly every joint in her hands and feet. Her feet don't even look like feet anymore. You can't tell from looking at her, but she is so tough. I think we all are. We just take what is handed to us and keep putting one foot in front of the other regardless. Sneak a little nap when we can, and just keep going. Guest guest
Jennie, Your Mom sounds like a woman to truly admire; what strength! We don't need to look any further as to why you are so capable of making lemonade. Have a good day. Iris --- xponder70 <xponder70@...> wrote: > I think about my mom and I wonder how she did it.
