Guest guest
Hi . Welcome. I have dealt with RA for a long time too. I was in my late teens/early 20's when RA was first suspected. Lot more they can do about things now. In addition to this site - you might be interested in Arthritis INsights chat room for people with Juvenille Rheumatoid - JRA. Hugs and welcome. > Hi, my name is and I was diagnosed with RA when I was 15. > I'm now 21 and they thought I had a shot at being in remmission but > I flared up again. Is the meds helping at all? Guest guest
Hi , and welcome to the group. It's a wonderful group of caring, supportive, understanding, empathetic and witty people. The group leaders are fantastic, and send in lots of great information. I'm Jo, in my 50's, married with grown children, 3 grandchildren and1 doggy. We live in Illinois 30 miles south of Chicago just a few miles from the Indiana border. My main problems are RA, OA, IA, DDD, AS and fibro. Can't take any of the meds for arthritis except prednisone. So it's that with muscle relaxers and painkillers. I'm sorry to hear you're flaring up again. But glad you found this great group. Just jump right in anywhere. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Welcoming hugs, Dix [ ] Just Joined In Hi, my name is and I was diagnosed with RA when I was 15. I'm now 21 and they thought I had a shot at being in remmission but I flared up again. It was upsetting so now I'm looking to talk to people who might understand. I've been on Enbrel for about 3 or 4 years and was on a mixture of indocine, methotrexate and prednisone for awhile before that. Just looking for support and maybe some extra info. Guest guest
Hi, I also just joined this list. The list I have been on belives only in antibiotic treatment. I did well on that for about 11 years but this past year the antibiotics are not working as well and I needed to find people who are being helped my other meds. I'm still hoping the antibiotics will kick in, but if not, I know there are other meds. Thanks, ette

Guest guest
Hi , I am on minocycline 100 mg in the AM and doxycyline 100 mg in the PM. I also take bextra or naprosyn and 4 mg of prednisone. I am still stiff in the AM but I am doing a little better now. I had been thinking of trying enbrel or something else, but I don't think I need it now. What are you taking and how do you feel? ette

Guest guest
Hi ette, and welcome to the group. It's a wonderful group of understanding, informative, empathetic, and witty people, with two of the best moderators anywhere. I'm Dix, have several types of arthritis. I tried antibiotic therapy, but it didn't do anything for me. There are lots of meds on the market, so you should be able to find a good one. Do you have a good rheumatologist? Sometimes, I think that's half the battle! Dix Re: [ ] Just Joined In Hi, I also just joined this list. The list I have been on belives only in antibiotic treatment. Guest guest
Hi Dix, Thanks for your warm welcome. I will be on vacation next week so I won't be near my computer. What meds are you taking for your RA? Are you worried at all about the side effects? I have a good rheumatologist. He's in Watchung, NJ. He believes in the antibiotic treatments but other meds as well. Thanks, ette
Guest guest
ette, You may have read in another post that I'm allergic to or have serious side effects for all meds for arthritis, with the exception of prednisone, which I take on an as needed basis. After that, it's painkillers. I'm not worried about the side effects because I don't take them regularly, and also drink tons of water each day. Is anyone else taking this and if so how are you feeling? I feel all alone with this and am looking for someone to talk to about it. My husband and children are very supportive, but I don't think they truly understand the daily pain. If you can help, I would love to hear from you. Hi Peggy! Welcome. I was taking Mtx for a while and it seemed to slowly stop working. My rheuumy added Humira and i have seen great improvement. Since i was doing so well she reduced my dosage from 6pills to 4...Well Being a busy mom of 2 young kids, I stopped taking it simply because i forgot. Huge mistake. I have had flare ups like i've never had before these past weeks. Even if the medicine dosent seem to be working still take it. Ask your doctor next time about it. Guest guest
Peggy, Welcome to the group. I take methrotrexate and enbrel. It took several months for me to see any results. But when I did it was good. I could move my shoulders in the mornings. You will find a lot of helpful info here. And everyone is very supportive. I hope you feel better soon.
