Guest guest
Yes, welcome Nea --I just found this group as well and it is a very supportive community! Cindi, I wanted to thank you for your email to Nea too. I enjoyed reading about what has worked for you. Being a longtime advocate for extreme self-care and for simplicity, I think the ideas you have listed are ones that everyone can benefit from. Having a positive, loving environment is critical to overall quality of life, whether with RA or not. I wanted to add that another important step is remembering to fill your brain with good stuff -- TV shows that uplift, good literature or self-help books, time to be silent, writing, etc. Another underused and misunderstood tool is the use of affirmations. Affirmations, if used consistently and properly (not occasionally or short-term) can sort of " re-wire " the thinking. Affirmations can be as simple as: I am kind to myself. I do the best I can with how I feel. I make a contribution to others. I have people around me who surround me with love. I am well and at peace. You get the idea. Affirmations are in the present tense, as if this were already a reality. It takes some dedication and time to see these be effective, but I know firsthand and from helping others that this is a very useful tool. Hope it helps if appropriate to you! :~) Warmly, Beth
