No wonder I haven't seen anything from you. I have always enjoyed your

recipes and inspirational emails. And yes the funny ones too. LOL

Sorry to hear you have been so sick. I am very happy to hear you are

getting over the worst of it. Our immune systems just can't handle what a

healthy person can handle and that if very frustrating.

Glad you are back.....

Hi everyone,

Sorry, I haven't posted much but have been reading almost everyday and

keeping up.

I am just recovering from the worst case of pneumonia I have ever had in my

life....the prior one this bad was in 1968 when I worked for the telephone

company and the employees were on a nationwide strike and I missed all but

just a few days of the strike. It has been just a little over 2 weeks now

and I am finally beginning to feel like a human again. The only nice thing

about it is that I have been able to be on the prednisone (only thing for me

that kicks it) during this time and have about 5 days to go on it. The

prednisone is the only drug that I have ever taken that can reduce my daily,

normal pain level of a 5 to a 1 or nothing and it kicks in either the 2nd or

3rd day. I've told my doctor, it sure would be nice to be able to bottle

the effects of the prednisone and take it daily but the risk is too great

for me to take it regularly. Oh well, the story of my life...the golden

apple is always just out of reach so settle for applesauce.

Jan,

I¹m sorry you¹ve been so sick. I think we all wish we could safely take

prednisone. Maybe one day they will find a way to decrease the side effects

so that we can enjoy the benefits.

Thank you, ...It is nice to know you are thinking of me.

I still have my recipes and all, however, I tend more to send them

out personally now as our family here has become more serious about

what is going on in the auto-immune world and wanting to find out out

more about those things. I am still gleaning information from the

many things the family here post though and am following everyone

through their lives.

Our RA family is very close to my heart and since it was the first

place I found in my search for learning more about myself, it is

especially dear to me. I have made many friends within the family

and feel that we will be friends for many, many years.

Has anyone heard from Carol from FL? I have sent her emails since

the Hurricanes and they have all come back auto-answer refering to

the first one that went through and that they had sustained

damage....but nothing more. I have been very concerned.

I am both looking forward to the holidays and dreading them at the

same time. Looking forward because of the traditions and the things

associated with the season but dreading it because I tend to overdo

phsycially and emotionally and pay for it either during or

afterwards. Always say this year will be different, but it never is

because I throw myself into the holidays with not wanting to miss a

thing. I am working on two very personal gifts to friends and family

this year and hope to be able to get them done in time for the

holidays for them....but this I have promised myself....if I

don't...they will become a New Year love offering.

Hope all is well with you and your family...and that your holidays

will be wonderful no matter how you celebrate them.

I don't know if I can help-but if you have specific questions related to

dysphagia, I know a bit from nursing patients on various diets and neuro

patients, etc for 4 years. Many people have dysphagia problems at some point as

they age, sometimes permanent, sometimes temporary. I would be happy to help if

I can. Cary
