This is really interesting . The rheumatic site states that MTX and

antibiotics shouldn¹t be used together:

http://www.rheumatic.org/mtx.htm

I¹ve read it other places as well. Now I¹m sorry I didn¹t give the

antibiotics a chance since I was afraid of the combination. Would this

person asking these questions to the healthtalk be someone I know?

I don't understand the complete reasoning but I have been told not to take MTX

when treating any infection- particularly respiratory. Lately because of anti

biotics - I have been off MTX than on.

, a couple of things could be running through your doctor's head,

but they're not really related to the antibiotics. First, he/she may

believe that your body has a better chance at fighting the infection

without the MTX since it's an immunosuppressant. Also, if you are

thought to have a respiratory infection, the possibility that MTX

pulmonary toxicity is producing your symptoms needs to be ruled out.

I'll tell you where to go!
