Guest guest
The last time I posted, I was to go to the Rheumy on Thursday but couldn't get there. We rescheduled for Tuesday and I even planned a ride to make sure I could go. Well, I didn't get there on Tuesday either. I was feeling so bad, I couldn't walk from the house to the van, so we headed to my Doc instead. I saw a Nurse Practitioner that has RA, so she knew what I'm going through. We did a checkup and scheduled a blood test on the way out. When we got home, there was a message on the phone that said " Get back to the ER, ASAP! " It turns out that I have had 'severe' anemia for more than a year, and nobody noticed. Even my rheumy didn't request a CBC, and others before that didn't notice the values falling. I stayed in the hospital for 3 days and have to go back for GI surgery sometime soon. So far, I've had 2 units of blood, and have to take extra iron pills. Even today I can't walk 50 feet in one try. I can just get to the bathroom, but not back before resting. Now I know why I couldn't get to the racetrack for the last 2 years! I don't know what's going to happen, but I'm not used to being able to do nothing at all. Dennis
