Guest guest
It's a tough one, Cary. And I'm worried, too. I believe that nobody knows for sure yet, but, as you can see from the flurry of recent news reports, there is some evidence to suggest that the cardiovascular side effects are a class effect and not unique to Vioxx (rofecoxib). Not only that, but Vioxx seemed to be better at sparing the gut than the other coxibs, too. I'd say that people with RA should use Bextra (valdecoxib) and Celebrex (celecoxib) with caution and only after making sure there aren't safer alternatives available to them. If the coxibs are used, being on them for the shortest time possible would also be prudent. Sorry for such a late reply! I'll tell you where to go! Celebrex did nothing, and steady doses of ibuprofen make me feel like a rat is attempting to gnaw it's way out of my stomach. I worry though-with RA we are already at greater risk for cardiovascular problems, and I worry that even if Bextra is considered relatively safe for the average person, what about the person with a greater risk for cardiovascular events? , a...? Whaddya think? Cary
