Guest guest
I had to get my prescription for Percocet filled today. It used to be you could get refills. Then after the Oxy " scandal " they changed the laws in Illinois that you had to get a new Rx every time you wanted it filled. Fortunately, my Dr. just fills one out and I can pick it up any time. But when I took it into the pharmacy today, they told me there was a new law. Now they have to " card " me. I need a photo ID with my driver's license number or social security number on it. They put that on the actual script so that if/when the DEA audits them, they know that I was the person the med was for. I asked what would happen if I was completely disabled and couldn't bring in the Rx myself. She didn't know. And having my meds wouldn't stop me from going out and selling them on a street corner, if I were inclined to do so, photo ID or not. Just doesn't make sense to me. Guest guest
This is unbelievable! Are we going to be treated like criminals in order to have pain medication? The criminal element will always find a way to get what drugs they want. We, as taxpayers and good people should not have to be put through hoops when the truth is all we want is some quality of life. Personally, I have been taking 160mg of Oxy every day along with 4-6 percocet and have never, ever, felt any euphoria they talk about. I also know being addicted on oxy is a terrible thing for a doctor to deal with but denying people with chronic pain from a med they need is criminal. At this point, in Canada, we don't have a problem getting pain medication. it is strictly controlled and while on oxy we are required to visit the GP every month and there is a limit I am allowed of 3 x 80mg within a 24 hr period. I hardly ever take the third one because I get that horrible itch from head to toe. I am never pain free but the pain is controlled enough that I can at least do a few things that are fun. Once I get my knee and ankle operated on, hopefully I won't need the oxy. Okay, getting off my platform LOL but I will keep on fighting for all chronic pain sufferers to get the meds they need and deserve. Guest guest
I took Oxy for three days after my hysterectomy two years ago. It did nothing for my pain. The only thing it did was make me sleep so I didn't feel the pain. I didn't even know what I was taking until I threw the bottle away last year that was in my safe. I was surprised that this was the drug I was hearing so much about. Pain meds tend to just make me sleep and that's it. Advil works better for me than anything I think. Guest guest
P.S. to the my last Oxy note. Oxy leaves me with a bad memory. I uncovered a scandal in my children's Catholic School this past school year. A teacher there (principal's sister who I did not like) was a felon. She was hired by her sister the principal and no background check was done at that time. It was hidden that she burglarized her father's pharmacy of oxy and valium, was watched by the drug enforcement team, and arrested. She was found guilty but did not go to prison (family is political in that part of Illinois) but was put on an intense 5 year TASC probation. For a time she was on electronic home monitoring. She was teaching in our school at the time it all happened and continued to teach until I brought it to light at the Diocese. That was in October of 2003 and she was allowed to finish out the school year until June of 2004, as was her sister the principal! Can you believe this?!?!?!? In the court documents she was a self-admitted substance abuser. Another almost cover-up in the Catholic church. Imagine my horror when I discovered the empty bottle of oxy in my safe!
