I guess this is dietetics related since I frequently travel with my husband,

he driving and me working on my laptop, and is something maybe some of you

aren't familiar with. (A friend thought it was a great idea and had never

thought of this until she rode with us a couple days ago.)

Years ago, we purchased an Inverter that could be plugged into the car

lighter socket. Then you can plug electrical appliances into the inverter to

run

your laptop, charge your cell phone, even run a curling iron (did this once

when traffic was horrible due to construction delays and I was late to give a

presentation - had to primp and " freshen up " in the car as hubby drove.)

Inverters can be purchased at most electronics places or Walmart. I think

the last small one (keep it in my computer bag) was about $14 (A Black and

Decker model I've had for 1 1/2 years now.)

(I've known people to spend $100 or more to buy special cords so they could

plug their laptops directly into the lighter plug, and buying separate cords

for each cell phone, etc.)

Anyway, instead of buying special plugs for each piece of equipment that you

might want to run/charge in your car, just buy one inverter and plug in

anything. Do check the wattage to be sure they are adequate for your needs. A

100

Watt inverter is plenty for my laptop, but certainly not for a blow dryer

(you'd need a 1200 or 1800 watt one for that - According to former electrician

husband, you want an inverter that's 1/3 more watts than the appliance you're

plugging in.)

Also, " some " airlines now have " lighter plugs " on-board, and you can keep

from draining your computer batteries if you want to work on long flights.

Anyway, just thought I'd share a small thing that makes my business life

while traveling MUCH more efficient and effective.
