I am certain RA can be in your jaw. Hope that helps! Guest guest
Hi Cherie, I have had jaw pain on and off for the past year. My rheumatologist said it was probably the RA. I have been taking mobic and enbrel and that keeps it under control. Unfortunately,I still can't eat really crunchy or chewy food. --- In , Cherie Myers <BILLCHERIE@Y...> wrote: > > > I'm wondering if this is another symptom, or something totally different...lately, I am sore and tired in my jaw. Guest guest
About 2 years ago my jaw became affected when I woke up in the morning it had stiffened up so much I could not get my mouth open and when I did the joint kept popping. It was very very painful but over the past year it seems to have improved and I am no longer in pain. Guest guest
Judith, My jaw has done the same thing! The sides of my face are very swollen and very tender to the touch. I went to the dentist, thinking I had an abcess or something, but nothing showed up. My general physician says no ear infections. My jaw is so painful, I haven't eaten or opened my mouth to talk (besides closed mouth talking which is very hard for my co-workers to understand) in 2 days. I didn't know if this means the RA has moved to my jaw or what. I don't see the rheumatologist (sp) until Jan 5th. I guess I'll just suffer until then??? Moist heat seems to help, but as soon as I stop the warmth, it comes back worse than ever. Any suggestions? Please keep up the prayers you wonderful people. My prayers are with you all, Dalena judith brimsden <judith.brimsden@...> wrote: About 2 years ago my jaw became affected when I woke up in the morning it had stiffened up so much I could not get my mouth open and when I did the joint kept popping. Guest guest
I had problems with my jaws when I was about 13 or so. I just woke up one morning and couldn't move my jaw more than enough to slip a straw through. My folks didn't believe in using doctors, I guess, so I had soup until it let go. I think the problem was that my teeth don't line up and I have to move my jaw back to chew. It popped and hung up and made all kinds of trouble for a few years but I outgrew it. Surprisingly, they are the only joints not affected by RA. I'm going into the hospital tomorrow morning for surgery, and plans are to get home Friday evening. I hope it goes that way and that it will fix my 'anemia' problem. Maybe I can get back to some of my hobbies. Keep your fingers crossed. Guest guest
Dennis- I have had the same problem periodically with my jaw popping out of place. I saw an oral surgeon who along with my Rheumatologist felt that RA could effect the jaw. I got the referral because another dentist thought it could be TMJ ( remember that trend). The OS just gave me excercises for the jaw and suggested a bite plate. My current dentist is a sweetie. Whenever he has scheduled any dental work - he times it so my jaw doesn't tire. His brother has RA. Good luck with the surgery. You are in my prayers.
