Hi Althea,

I agree with you 110%! Each person's body chemistry is different,

and different meds react differently to different people. Plus, we

have different mixes of diseases brewing inside us. Believe me, I

sure know that with this weird mix I have!

My general doctor now just throws up his arms and says " you do what

youhave to in order to get some relief, just make sure I know what

you're doing and what everyone else is doing to you. "

I know what you're saying about antidepressants. They can be good

for the right reasons. Ron takes Zoloft for Parkinson's, but that's

because Parkinson's affects something in the brain that does

something to depression (don't ask me, I just know that the Zoloft

keeps him on an even keel.) But when I tried it, nothing changed.

Wellbutrin made me violently ill, and caused seizures. So now I take

a simple Sam-e tablet every day, and that seems to do the trick.

These conditions we have cause a great deal of stress, and anything

that can relax me a little without a chemical backlash is ok with me.

I can't take prednisone any more because it makes my tumors multiply

like oversexed bunnies, and I sure don't need that! I had an

argument with the orthopedist about that when he wanted to give me a

shot in the knee, and I gave in and let him give me the shot because

he said " oh, it won't go beyond the knee. " Well guess what? I now

have 3 tumors right by my knee! Now he knows.

So, just as we have to encourage doctors not to pigeonhole us and

treat us all the same, we here in this group must remember that we

are not all the same--we have different needs and different

reactions. But one thing is the same, we are all in pain and we all

need comforting and encouragement. And thanks to you and all the

rest who are here to provide that!

Peace,

Judi
