There are other treatments a chiropractor could use, such as electrical stimulation. Be sure to tell your rheumy about your neck pain if you haven't already. Guest guest
Tess and Tawny, when I was having so much neck pain and couldn't turn my head, I went to a registered massage therapist and in 4 treatments I was so much better. Before I let her work on me, I asked if she was experienced in helping RA patients and she said she usually asks because then she knows not to massage too deeply. I went for 6 more treatments (just because it felt so good) and that is over 2 years ago. I, personally, have a real fear of any chiro manipulating my neck. Guest guest
June,.....That sounds like a good idea, thanks T > Tess and Tawny, when I was having so much neck pain and couldn't turn my head, I went to a registered massage therapist and in 4 treatments I was so much better. Guest guest
I went to a chiro years ago, I didn't know that I had RA. It didn't go over to well, and I hurt more after I left. I will check around, and check out therapy for RA patients, thanks Tawny > you can ask for a free consult too. my dr's do them all the time. kathy in il > > >
Guest guest
I think that both treatments are beneficial. My massage therapist worked on the muscles but my chiro would also hold certain pressure points in my head and neck to release the tightness. She had partnered with the massage therapist to provide her patients with the best care possible. I think that the key is to see a chiro that understands RA and adjusts her mode of treatment to accommodate your needs. The old style chiro (twist and crack) would not be a good idea as it could cause further damage.
