Guest guest
Tess, do you have any more clues? Symptoms? Calcinosis comes to mind first, but there are sooooooo many medical terms. How did your move go? I'll tell you where to go! My Dad found out today he has that, and my sweet Mommy > can't hear the doctor on the phone worth beans even with her > hearing-aids, so I'm trying to get some information. Guest guest
Hi ...there is a narrowing in Dad's spine...he is fine sitting, but has to bend far over to walk, and then it is still terribly painful. The dr says my Dad is a " young " 85...which is true, so he is suggesting surgery, as he says this will not correct on it's own. The move was overwelming emotionally (not helped by a pharmacy snafu that left me without one of my antidepressants for five days - it's been rectified, but it took some very assertive behavior on my part to get it straightened out)...however, there were lots of dear folks who worked so hard plus my sweet kiddles....even my Kelsey (granddaughter) got right in there and did what she could. So, everything got done and today I turned in my keys and said goodbye...seeing it empty reminded me so much that it isn't my " home " anymore cause the people I love aren't there. But, it is where my youngest went to high school, my Gen met her hubby, lots of memories. Now, time to make new ones. Much love.... Guest guest
Maybe your dad's diagnosis was " spinal canal stenosis " or spinal stenosis, Tess. American Family Physician " Lumbar Spinal Canal Stenosis: A Common Cause of Back and Leg Pain " : http://www.aafp.org/afp/20030515/2199ph.html Moving is so difficult. I know you'll always have your old, happy memories, Tess, but it's hard to let go of that physical connection sometimes. You will make new ones! You've got a lot of living to do. Sorry about the mix-up with your meds. Hope you'll be feeling a lot better soon. I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
My mother has that. I believe the doctor described it to me as spurs on or near the spine. He said I have the beginning of one as far as he can tell from the x-ray or whatever I had done. I don't think it's uncommon but I'm not sure. Where he said I have it I have no pain so far. Guest guest
Sorry, I just read the website and I was wrong. I have a spur but it must not be called spinal stenosis. My mother has spurs I guess AND spinal stenosis. Guest guest
I have ankylosing and cervical spondylitis and also bone spurs. Spondylitis is (from what I've been able to tell) the word they use for arthritis in the spinal area. From what I've been told, bone spurs can show up just about anywhere you have arthritis.
