Guest guest
Hi Well I know exactly how you're feeling right now but all you have to do is have confidence in your surgeon. Try to stay positive and to think that the chances of anything not going to plan are very small. I know that I'm feeling so much better and its only a week and a half since my surgery. I too had the partial wrap and I was worried about having it but its fine. If you can, print off some of the positive responses and success stories from this site. I did and took them with me to the hospital. When I was having some chest pain and was worried I read through some people's exeperiences and found that they too had the same pains. It just helps to put your mind at rest. I hope all goes well but just remember to take things really easy afterwards. I'm feeling a little bruised still now, it just feels as though i've been kicked around a little, but i'm sitting down to eat my food. Take care Jess

Guest guest
Good luck on your surgery, been there done that many times, just finished heart surgery, had rheumatoid peridcarditis which is fluid around the heart had to have chest opened and lung collapsed as they went in to drain it three weeks ago today , I am doing well except now I have fluid in the lung they collapsed so will probably have to have that drained, not looking forward to that. But good luck to you!!!! Shirley Edmis3@...

Guest guest
That sounds like a good plan, . I can't do anything with my left hand. I hope the surgery goes well and you don't feel too crippled while you can't use your right one. Guest guest
, you will be surprised what you can do. The most important for me was my coffee in the morning before DH was up. I put my cup in the sink, slid the coffee pot over to the edge of the sink and tipped the coffee in. Don would set it up the night before, set the timer and done. I used the bandaged hand just to push with or balance and found I could do a lot of things using " pull and push " method. Just make sure you only use this method for things you really want to do. Other than that take advantage of the situation and enjoy the service LOL. I am off to the hospital in the morning for x-ray of my left foot and ankle which my GP thinks I have a fracture in the foot or just above the ankle. On Wed. I got up from a chair and couldn't put any weight on my foot. To be on the safe side he gave me antibiotics just in case it is a bad infection. Whatever it is, I am not happy when anything stops me from getting around. Take care , hope all goes well for you. Hugs June Hi, I am having arthroplasty on my right wrist on Monday and am a nervous wreck. I had the left one done about a yr. ago with good results and am more nervous about this one since I am right handed. Does anyone have any good tips for doing things while not able to use your dominant hand? I have had to stop the meds that were helping me and am also very stiff and in a lot of pain so I am not looking forward to this. Guest guest
Thanks for the kind words, June. I am sorry to hear about your possible fracture. I had that happen to me in my foot a few years ago and it is not fun. I just stepped onto my porch and felt the pain-yuck. Your tip about the coffee is a good one and will work for other things I might want to pour also. I definitely am nervous today but am keeping myself busy so as to not think about it so much-having the grandchildren come over tomorrow for fun diversion. I am sorry about your fracture and hope it doesn't keep you down too long. We are all a tough bunch-can't keep us down!! LOL. Guest guest
Thanks for your kind words Shirley. One thing about this group-we've seen it all haven't we? I am sorry you have had to go through heart surgery-sounds scary but I hope you are on the road to recovery. I think I would feel better if I knew I would never have to go through surgery again but i guess that is what we all have to look forward to in some form or another. Oh well! Best wishes go out to you and I hope your next procedure goes smoothly. Let us know. Guest guest
Hi , Good luck with your surgery Monday! I don't have too many tips--I'm ambidexterous, use my left hand pretty much as well as my right, but there is that problem in the bathroom...did you find that extension thing? All I can suggest is, if you can wiggle your fingers, do that as much as possible to reduce the swelling. Besides that, enjoy being waited on hand and foot! Guest guest
Thanks Judi! I too use my left hand a little better than most - I think when your hands hurt you tend to use the one that doesn't! I didn't get the extension thing-wasn't too sure how it worked LOL-may have to go for it after all! I will be wiggling and icing and I really will enjoy being waited on. Hope you and Ron are doing better and over your virus. Thanks again. nonny46 <nonny46@...> wrote: Hi , Good luck with your surgery Monday!
