Guest guest
I haven't been watching the news much but realised from the posts here that there is a major storm hitting Florida. I lived through Hurricane Hugo in Sumter SC in 1989 so my prayers go out to you. It is really scary to be in the middle of the storm with nothing but darkness around you wondering if you will make it through the night. My Mom lived in Dalzell SC during that storm and I remember the tv went out early but there was one radio station on and it said if you are out there and want to let your relatives and friends know you are okay call in - she did - I was able to know she was okay over the radio... I will be praying for you after the storm too when the clean-up comes. We lived without electricity or running water for 4 weeks. I can do without the electricity but a regular bathroom needs running water. I would have gladly had an out house if I could have found one. All our improvements that don't work without electricity...lol Anyway, my prayers are with all of you. Tawny I am praying for Jim to come through this okay. God bless, Althea
Guest guest
i talked to my mom a little bit ago. she said charley changed paths and is headed right for orlando which is 40 miles south of them. she says they have done some mandatory evacuations in mobile homes in other counties. but not theirs yet. so please say a prayer for them. i am glad my dad is not working so they are atleast together. kathy in il
Guest guest
Althea, I remember Hugo well. 4 weeks without electric must have been tough. We were very lucky that we were only out for a short time. They said it would be several days, but my area wasn¹t hit hard so I got my power back. I feel so bad for the victims. I am just glued to the television staring at the pictures of what is going on just 30 miles away. I am so blessed that the hurricane turned when it did, but sure wish it could have turned enough to have spared the people here. Things have changed a lot since Hugo, and assistance is much quicker. Fema is here and efforts are being made to make sure basic necessities are available. a > I haven't been watching the news much but realised from the posts > here that there is a major storm hitting Florida.
