Guest guest
Hi Dolores: I have marked November 14th on my calendar and wishing you much success. They had me on 1000mcg of Dofetilide - and they thought this might be causing the intestinal problems. They also suggested irritable bowel. As I posted earlier, the food was lousy (not what I am accustomed to). My daughters brought meals to me. They dropped the dosage down to 750 mcg a day . Anyway, who knows what caused my problems - but it only lasted a few days. You probably wont have this problem at all. Also, I have a family history of Colon Cancer (Mother and her two Brothers). I was due for my usual Colonoscopy, but it was put off because of the AFIB. I am told now I can have it (ugh) and it's presently scheduled for Tuesday, November 21st.......yet another trip to Duke!!!!!!!!!!! (Gentle Suggestion): If you are an anxious person, I would suggest you ask them to turn the monitor off in your room. I did this and believe me, it helped tremendously! Again, my prayers, thoughts and best wishes to you. Please keep us posted. Guest guest
Dolores: I just wanted to remind you that I have a Dual Pacemaker (implanted July 2000). However, the other two members on our Board who are on Dofetilide, do not have Pacemakers. There was also a 77 year old man in Duke (he was #4 in Duke), who did not have a Pacemaker. He does not have a computer and I keep in touch with him by phone. He was in permanent AFib and although he is not in NSR around the clock, he goes in and out - and is quite happy! Guest guest
Interested to know about your pacemaker; Is it the DAO, (dynamic atrial override)? This is specifically designed for AF patients, and while not a cure per se, it does reduce ventricular response during an episode. Many AF patients with this DAO pacemaker lead fully normal lives with it, although many become pacemaker dependant. Has the dual lead pacemaker reduced your AF episdoes and/or their severity in terms of symptoms?
