Guest guest
Hello, Wise Ones! I just got a call from my rheumatologist telling me that my white blood cell count is low again. I have been off of Plaquenil for about 3 months now so it should be out of the system -- it can cause the white blood cells to drop. I am curious if anyone else ever has this issue as it is my understanding that RA is typically more associated with a HIGH white blood cell count -- not LOW. As I was just diagnosed with RA in November (by the cumulative blood work from the past 2 years and the nodule on my elbow) after hovering between an RA and lupus diagnosis for a couple of years, I am questioning whether the diagnosis is really correct (read: not in denial -- just want an accurate diagnosis!). I am seronegative too. Anyone else with low white blood cells? If so, what medications did you use to treat the RA? Currently, I am not on anything due to liver enzymes elevated and this low white blood cell count. Thanks, as always, for your expertise!
