Guest guest
Hi For those interested....after 20 yrs and very severe RA, and out of desperation to obtain pain relief and save my hands, I am about to start the 12 weeks of apharesis via the Prosorba Column. If anyone has used this method to manage their immune disease, I would be very interested in hearing of your experience and of course any information would be greatly appreciated. I understand that it is considered a treatment similar to dialysis whereby it cleanses the blood of the nasty critters from RA, and hopefully helps slow down the RA. At present, my spleen is enlarged which is a complication of RA and it is time for something drastic. Keep me in your prayers. Guest guest
Hi All, Thanks a for all of the articles regarding the Prosorba treatment as we all need to know the good bad the the ugly with these medications and treatments. For anyone who may be afraid of this treatment, I can only tell you from one who has done it all, as they say......this treatment is no more risky than the medications we take for RA. As for a good response...for me time will tell. It is a very personal choice for each of us and hopefuly our rheumatologists will help us make that choice with education. Regarding the medications,I for one, after many months on methotrexate and times where I had taken phenergan, one time when I took both, I ended up in critical care for 2 days....and still suffer the consquences today from this reaction. Although the reaction was extremely rare, it happened. In fact,my rheumatologist in Florida stated that he had one other patient who suffered the same reaction from MTX.... so I guess what I am trying to say is...medications or treatments???they all have their risks and side effects. After 20 yrs with RA I will continue to look and try new treatments that will ease this pain and the loss of the use of my hands, feet, etc. God Bless all of us with these very difficult decisions.
