Guest guest
OK you might wonder how silly, a duck race? Let me tell you, I really like this event, I have gone a few times- and it is fun to watch these little rubber duckies race downstream to see which one will win. Better still if you have invested in one to win!!!! I just love little rubber duckies and seeing so many of them just warms my heart to the toes. I suppose for me part of the attraction is that each one represnts a donation for Hospice. But even without that part, it is still fun. (hey remember me? I am the one who cannot resist a single parade or fireworks disply- LOL and I am a sucker for an outdoor free concert) OK the details- Aug 7 Northeastern Hospice of Illinois will have it's 11th annual Duck Race and Pool party at Lagendorf park in Barrington. From 5:30 till 8:30. All proceeds will benefit patient care programs. This years race grand prize includes $700 worth of passes to Santas Village, AMC theatres, Brusnwick Zone in ALgonquin, Connies Pizza and Hilton Garden Inn in Hoffman Estates, plus $200 in cash. The grand prize for the Very Important Duck Race is $,1000 The free event includes open swimming and sand volleyball, music by DJ Rod , an appearance by NASCAR driver Biff and his vehicle, face painting, a clown, hair braiding, prizes from local businesses, food from Kookers in Barrington, and ice cream. Participants can adopt ducks by visiting www.HospiceAnswers.org Quackers are $5 each or $25 for a family of 6 or $100 for a flock of 25. Very Important DUcks are $250 each and entered in a seperate race. For info call (847)381-5599 ext 254 If memory serves me, Lagendorf Park can be accessed from Rte 14 in Barrington very near the McDs entrance (I used to swim there daily as a child with my brother Bill, oh my the hours we spent there day after day after day, fond memories) Seriously, A duck Race really is kinda fun.something different, and if ya adopt a duck, well, Hospice here is a wonderful wonderful organization. Not something ya ever want to need- but truly awesome if you DO need it-----and Hospice - if I have this right, never charges patients for services....(altho I think they bill insurance)
