Deanna,

Since your mom has not responded to any meds as of yet, her doctor is

trying different combinations to try to find something effective.

Many of us are on several different medications. Combining the drugs

is more effective than mono therapy. When RA is brought under

control, her doctor may wean her off the prednisone to avoid the long

term side effects. Right now, I think her doctor's priority is to get

the disease under control. I hope the Humira works for her.

Hi there,

I started Humira in Oct and by Dec 2nd my joints were not swollen

anymore. I was still in pain, however until I started Neurontin -

but I believe that was for my dx of Fibromyalgia.

I did not respond to the plaquenil, so was off it by the time I

started Humira. I am now being weaned off of the prednisone - should

be done by the end of the week.

If you have questions, call the rheumy. Mine is great about calling

back when I have questions regarding a visit or meds. Also - Humira

has a help line 1-800-4HUMIRA where there are counselors that can

help with questions.

Hope your mom is feeling better soon!

Peace,

City
