Guest guest
Jennie, Here's some information regarding disposal of syringes and needles from the Humira site: " What should I do with my used syringe after I take HUMIRA? You should always check with your healthcare provider for instructions on how to properly dispose of used needles and syringes. You should follow any special state or local laws regarding the proper disposal of needles and syringes. Do not throw the needle or syringe in the household trash or recycle. Here are some tips that you may find helpful: You should place the used needles and syringes in a container made specially for disposing of used syringes and needles (called a " Sharps " container), or a hard plastic container with a screw-on cap or metal container with a plastic lid labeled " used syringes " . Do not use glass or clear plastic containers. You should always keep the container out of the reach of children. When the container is about two-thirds full, tape the cap or lid down so it doesn't come off and dispose of it as instructed by your doctor, nurse or pharmacist. Do not throw the container in the household trash or recycle. Used preps may be placed in the trash, unless otherwise instructed by your doctor, nurse or pharmacist. The dose tray and cover may be recycled. " http://www.humira.com/hu/huStore/cgi-bin/ProdSubEV_Cat_205037_NavRoot_205033_Nav\ ID_301.htm I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
I love the Folger's instant cafe latte. The empty containers are perfect for disposing of used syringes. They are exactly the right height. The Enbrel people sent me a sharps container, but it's so big. I'd rather dispose of the syringes more often. Guest guest
Jennie, here in Canada, we can call Enliven(Wyeth) makers of Enbrel and they will send " no charge " a Sharps container and when it is full there are certain pharmacies where you can dispose of the needles etc. I would imagine Humira has a similar programme. Hugs June For those who inject themselves - how do you dispose of your syringes? I have a syringe waste bottle that I put them in, it came with my first Humira shots from the online pharmacy. But I use a local pharmacy now. Can I take them to the pharmacy? Do I have to take them to the doctor? Do I get another one of these bottles when it's full or do I empty it and keep using the same one? What does everyone else do? Guest guest
I have an advantage that most people don't. I am a nurse in a doctors office so I empty my small sharps container into the bigger ones at my office. Since the syringes are mine I can handle them by putting them into the large container. Guest guest
That's exactly what you do. Just remember nobody is going to look inside it. It's like opening a box of cooties as far as anyone in the medical profession is concerned. The HCV virus is all over those needles because you have the virus. That's high alert for the medical team. They'll just dispose of it. No more breaking needles off okay? Just toss them.Hugs,TeriFrom: Barrett <barrjohnm@...> Sent: Mon, August 16, 2010 11:37:05 PMSubject: Re: [ ] pre filled needles I think I just give back the red box to them when we are done.
