I would not put it on a run sheet because it really does not inter into the patient care area. But, I would put it on a separate form and make sure I tell the police and give it to them AND get them to sigh a paper stating that they received it from you

[texasems-L] Documentation

Question: Do we/don't we, should we/shouldn't we, document unusual items found on our patients in the course of a routine assessment? Specifics: EMT-B student asks during documenting class if care providers should document a small bag of brown " weed-like " material found tied inside a patient's underwear. Material and bag do not seem to impact patient's condition, they are just there. Not too many patients have bags of brown looking weed tied inside their underwear and the " find " seems unusual. Document? Not docurment? Report? Not report? Bob Tarbet, LP Marble Falls Area EMS
