Guest guest
Dear Renate, It is possible that you are having TMJ problems. Your dentist can take a panaramic xray to see what's going on. If he sees joint involvement, he will send you to a specialist. I had my first TMJ surgery at 25 and the second and third at 40 and 42. The first was a lot worse than the other two as I had bone spurs and the jaw was locked. They wired my teeth together for several weeks. I haven't had any problems with that side since the surgery. That surgery was a lot more invasive than the other two arthroscopic surgeries. They will always try the more conservative treatments first; excercises, mouth guards, muscle relaxants, etc. One of the problems in dealing with TMJ is the insurance companies! They say that it is dental and therefore not covered but you can fight them by providing medical records that prove that you have RA and the jaw pain is from that disease. They have paid all of your other claims associated with your diagnosis and therefore must pay the TMJ claims. You can accomplished this mission; it just takes some time and hassle. If you continue to have this problem it would be a good idea to check it out. Let us know. Iris --- renate dorsey <renate220@...> wrote: > I would like to know if any of you have jaw pain from RA?
