Dear Deb: Hi my name is . I don't write too much, however I saw your

email and I felt I had to mention a few things to you.

The Doctor who is treating you isn't doing you any favors by giving you that

much prednisone. That is why you got the Diabeties. You wouldn't have it if

she/he would have given you less prednisone and some pain medicine instead.

Also prednisone is bad stuff to fool with. I have been on it for 30 years

because I have a kidney transplant and asthma besides the RA.

I probably will never get off of it. I have many problems because of taking

it. Unless I take it everyday I can't get out of bed and walk. I have

cataracts that have to be operated on soon. My body shape has changed a great

deal.

I have a hump back and big stomach and I also have a bad breathing disorder

that the prednisone helped me to get.

All I can say is there are other things to take. Get another Dr. You are

taking much too much prednisone for what you have. I only take 5Mg and I have

been on it 30 years and I can't get off that small amount. If i stop it i

literaly can't walk.

Take care, hope to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Anjillah@...

Dear Deb: Hi this is again. I am so sorry you have so much trouble.

I guess you are doing the best you can with all the problems that you have.

It is terrible you have had to wait so long to see a Doctor. Is there a

governor or someone who you could reach that might help make things a little

better

for you if you wrote to him or even sent him a copy of the email you sent me.

Maybe someone would help even if you could contact a newspaper and tell the

people in your area how much you are suffering. I wish there was something I

could do to help but I am not much better off. I have been on the prednisone

too but not as much as you are taking but I have been on it for about 30

years. I got sick when I was 16 and now I am 57. Time flies when you are

having

fun. Right, only kidding of course.

However, hang in there. I will do the same.

We have to. I pray to God we can get better some day. Take care and let me

know how you are.

Sincerely,

Dear Deb: This is again. I feel very bad that you have so much

trouble. I know how you feel. I can't take any of the newer medicines either.

Since, I have a kidney transplant for 18 years, the newer meds are not good for

my kidney. So prednisone has helped me too and yet I have suffered from it

too as you have. I also have asthma and another breathing disorder besides the

asthma. I have atelectasis. It is when part of the lung has collapsed, not

the whole lung. It is because of prednisone too but it is rare. It happens

because the prednisone makes the ribs press on the lungs and this way they can't

expand and are not as big as they should be for me to breathe properly. So,

I am very short of breath most of the time.

I was a nurse and this is part of the reason why I can't work any more too,

besides a bad shoulder, (rotator cuff) that happened when a patient fell on me

when I was giving her a shower, that was the last day I worked (8yrs ago).

Our situations are very similar though. I hope we can continue to

communicate and give each other strength even though we have these problems. I

will

pray for us both.

Sincerely, your friend,

PS: Please write when you can.
