Guest guest
, You are right, treatment can vary from one person to the next depending on the rheumy. I started with plaquenil over 25 years ago. Plaquenil is frequently the first drug prescribed. The problem with plaquenil is the length of time it takes to become effective. Many times prednisone will be prescribed to help with the pain and inflammation until the plaquenil kicks in. Some RD's are more aggressive and prescribe biologicals from the start such as Enbrel, Remicade, or Humira, but often insurance companies dictate what can be prescribed. They want the cheaper drugs used first and if they don't work, then they will approve the biologicals. a thanks for that info. but i wondered if it was what other people are taking. i know what the books say. but treatment can vary depending on rheumys. julie
