Guest guest
Judi, I have a claw too!!! And I absolutely love it. It takes me only about 10 minutes to weed an area that used to take about an hour. My other " I love it " garden tools are a hula hoe, which can be used for a variety of things, and a long-handled bulb planter. You can stand up, and step on it and it automatically digs a hole for you to plants bulbs. But it's also great to use when you want to plant annuals from flats, or perennials that come in small pots. Saves all that digging by hand! We've been working on downsizing the garden areas, which will be great when it's finally done. But it turned out to be more like re-landscaping the entire yard, and has taken much more time than expected. But at least it's at the point where I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! But I have to leave something to do for next year - I just love the creative aspects of planning gardens, finding new plants, and doing the actual work. Dix [ ] Dixie--the CLAW Hi Dix, I admit it does sound like something from a horror movie! It's about waist high, with big fat grips that stick out on both sides. The " claw " part is 4 claw-shaped tines that point downward, and then some smaller ones inside those. You do it standing up, and just push it into the ground a little, and give it a half-turn clockwise and then pull up, and the weeds just come right out! It loosens the soil, and I can weed a whole area in about 1/10 of the time it took me doing in on my knees. It even gets the dandelions and the crabgrass out and I don't have to pull them out, just pick 'em up. I used it today to get an area ready for the big rock our kids gave us for our anniversary (with our name on it) but I overdid a bit and when Ron came home from playing golf my face was rather rainbow- colored. So tomorrow is a no-garden day, orders from headquarters! What's the word from your world today? Judi
