Guest guest
Lipomas are fatty tumors, usually just under the skin. Mine are mostly angiolipomas, containing blood vessels. when they're removed they hemorrhage. The reason they are so painful is that they press on nerve endings. The ones in Dercum's can be anywhere in the body, even in organs and behind the eyes. Doctors have been telling us for years that " lipomas aren't painful " but now they're finding out that's not true. They can be as small as a grain of rice or as large as melons, grow in clusters or singly. Some have a purplish-blue color but most have no color thru the skin at all. They can feel rubbery when you pinch them (but please...don't pinch mine or I'll go thru the roof!!) It doesn't sound like you have lipomas, but I sure hope not.
