yes, he is a rheumatoligist. He is the only one on my insurance that I can see.

I have never really had a need to see a doc much since being on this insurance.

I called and they explained the rules. This is the only one I can see unless I

want to pay for it myself which I can't afford. I think he is wrong. My

husband and I have decided to ignor the info and move on. If it comes back

again we might consider further investigation.

I know you do not trust your doctor and do not believe you

necessarily have RA. It makes sense for you to be questioning

things at this point since you have not had time to learn much about

the disease. But the absolute BEST - meaning showing the best

results with the least long term negative results - is early

aggressive treatment with DMARDs.

There are alternative therapies - but any well informed and well

educated and GOOD rheumatologist or specialist or supporter of

alternative therapies will recommend alternative therapy be used in

conjunction with a DMARD, not instead of it.

There is a lot to learn about RA and proper treatment of RA. You

are not going to absorb it all in one day. Stick around and start

reading the latest research and it will help you.

You said your insurance will only pay to see this one doctor? Is he

in fact a rheumatologist? I have never heard of an insurance

company not letting someone have a second opinion before.

try any none drug type therapies before starting these strong drugs

with all their side effects.

Hi ,

I go to a really good chiropractor - who never cracks my neck but instead,

works on any of the joints that are bothering me. I also have a massage

every 3 weeks, would do more, but it's expensive.

These two things really help in addition to the antibiotic therapy, bextra

and small amounts of prednisone.

Please tell me more about your treatment. This may be what I need to do. I

will check but I think my insurance covers some chiropractic visits. Do I need

to tell them anything when I go?

I know my insurance does not cover massages. I have never had a massage. But

that is a thought if I get some extra money.
