Guest guest
Hi June, Thanks for the compliment.. By the looks of the very little interest from the group regarding the Prosorba Column, I guess I will reman a pioneer in this treatment. I must say it surprises me as it is the only treatment that removes the RA antibodies which attack us and does not require taking ANY medication! I imagine it is not well known yet I guess Have you ever had surgery on your ankle yet, ie :fusion? I ask as I had a subtalar arthrodesis of the left ankle 1996, but unfortunately the fusion put stress on the surrounding bones which then caused the need of a second fusion mid foot (triple arthrodesis)BUTTTTT now my toes have dislocated from the stress of the second fusion...so if it were me, I would definitely look into the ankle replacement instead of the fusion. In fact my right foot has sprung a posterior tibial tendon (just like the left foot did!)and I am looking into joint replacement for this one....Fusions are tough ! So what is the status of the spine surgery? and what is with the high cost to park for medical care?no valet parking or handicapped parking next to an entrance? That is terrible... Guest guest
I don't think there is little interest in the Prosorba.. I am very interested, and have digested everything you wrote and plan on talking to my dr about it at my next visit. I am wondering, how come you felt bad the couple of days after? I used to give plasma when I was in the Army cause I was poor and it never made me feel yucky... Semalee Re: [ ] June--ankle replacement vs fusion Hi June, Thanks for the compliment.. Guest guest
Joanne, if it is possible, I will definitely go for the ankle replacement if it is an option offered to me and it sounded like it is. My left ankle was fused 10 years ago by way of staples so that the only movement I don't have is from side to side. I have been very happy with the fusion and on recent x-rays the staples are still in place. At the moment it is my left knee that is causing me the most pain but no decision can be made until I get this next scan on Dec. 1 to see the arteries behind the bowel. Then, of course, none of this can happen until the neuro guy gets the results of a cat scan I am scheduled for on my spine next week. I am beginning to feel like my wheels are spinning but getting nowhere LOL. In Toronto, land is scarce and very valuable so no matter where you go downtown, you pay a price for parking. Most people use the subway or Go train to get downtown but it is not an option for me. I am seeing my rheumy on Nov. 27 and hopefully I will also have a chance to talk to Ed Keystone and I plan on telling them about your experience with the Prosorba Column. I don't think it is a matter of lack of interest that is happening, I just think there is so little information out there that people don't understand enough about it. Now that you are finished the treatments, do you take any meds? Hugs June
Guest guest
Hi June, No, I only take 5 mg of prednisone and pain meds at present...time will tell. I am happy to hear about the ankle replacement. I didn't know that you could have a joint replacement following a fusion...if it is the case here, I plan to look into it as I have had 2 fusions in my left foot and something is wrong..the skin is pulling inward and it hurts! I too have 5 staples and 2 screws....anyway I truly understand about spinning your wheels. The surgeon told me that the knee is sometimes negatively affected by the fusions on the foot.. Our gait changes and we put more stress on the knee and hip and back...any chance the fusion made the foot worse? We can't seem to win can we? fix something and it makes another joint go. So tell me what is the plan with your back? I forgot to tell you that the best time to reach me is after dinner... Joanne
