Guest guest
Dear Group, I have been having a completely lousy time lately, and I just wanted you to know how much it has helped belonging to this group! I still await my appt with Nashville's prominent Chiari neurosurgeon (9/13), but I am positive he agrees with my prior dx of ACM; he has my films and his office said he would have cxl'd my appt if he hadn't seen anything surgical. Unfortunately, today is doctor day -- big-time. First, my GYN for my annual. (YUK!) Then I see my optometrist to get my toric contact lenses. Hopefully, I'll be able to see out of them! (Only my left eye has the astigmatism.) The doc said that it sometimes takes two or three tries to get a script that works (sarcastic yippee), but my eyesight seems to change daily. I saw one eye doc in the middle of June, and he wrote one Rx, then this doc wrote another. (Actually, she took two tries and went with the second Rx!) She gave me some soft contacts to use, but I can't see worth a flip out of them. My glasses aren't right anymore either. The Rx is wrong -- plus they are severely "out of style!" ;-{ Those darned things are expensive too! So I am wondering -- should I wait on getting new glasses until I find out what is up with the ACM?? I am living on SS disability and glasses, etc. are not covered by Medicare/BlueCare (TN's Medicaid). I can't afford to buy glasses only to replace them later! Should I just stick with cheapie contacts and wait on new glasses for now?? I know that eyesight can be a big problem for Chiarians, and I would really value your advice! Thanks so much!
