Guest guest
I have read the posts on alternative therapies & would like to add my views. I was diagnosed with RA 6 years ago & kept off drugs for a long time - it was agony & I was practically unable to function. I then started on medication which helped with the pain which then gave me the motivation to read all I could on RA. I found that food intolerances seemed to be the most often mentioned cause of RA. I kept to a strict vegetarian diet & cut out citrus, gluten & dairy & found I improved gradually & have been off drugs for over a year. A rheumatologist at Epsom General Hospital in England by the name of Dr. Gail Darlington carried out a lot of research & wrote a book called Diet & Arthritis publishing the results of this research. Her findings were that around one third of RA is food related. This book is well worth reading. I still have the occasional flare, still have fatigue & depression - if I need to go back on medication I will (I can still remember the pain so well) but in the meantime I hope that someone else will read this book & find the relief of pain that I have from this terrible disease.
