Hi there. I haven't been to a doctor since oh the end of 2003

(several weeks after my son was born for the check up--he's now 2.7--

yes bad bad girl!). Well I went a few weeks ago for a physical and

the doctor ran some blood tests. I let her know I had intermittant

pain in my thumb to index finger region and she apparently ran this

test called " antinuclear antibodies test. " It tests to see if you

possibly have an auto immune disorder. Well she gave me a call and

let me know I tested at 2.1 and they look at something seriously if

it scores over 1. So she is referring me to a rheumatologist and

gave me lots of info on systemic lupus which I guess she believes is

what I COULD have (which may very well be the case because I am 25%

Indian and all of my great grandma's sisters--all Indian--have had

lupus and daughters have had lupus and one died apparently--just

discovered this part). So I will give a call on Monday to a

rheumatologist (any recommendations on one anyone?) Anyway, from my

researching this auto immune thing it seems many young women who get

this usually it results (they theorize) out of a hormonal change

during pregnancy. It makes me wonder all the more if possibly my

system began to change during pregnancy which made my son's immune

system sensitive as well. This is obviously all new territory and I

am wondering if ANYONE has a theory or has been through something

like this before? Any direction would be appreciated.
