Guest guest
Phil does not state where he is from but I don't think it matters too much. I was a firefighter in this community for 5 years before becoming a paramedic and I like EMS a lot better. Much of it for the same reasons Phil cites. More money, less grief, promotion options. The other doesn't matter to me at least...I like to work more hours, I don't like to sleep all night ( I feel more tired if I do) and I get a lot more personal satisfaction. This state has professionals in firefighting and EMS running the range from volunteers to high paid personnel. I think every individual decides to what level they work at. I know of people who simply went to paramedic school to be a volunteer, I know of firefighters who have crossed over to EMS and vice-versa. There are numerous opportunities for paramedics and firefighters (or both) throughout the state. It is simply a matter of matching the want with the need. P.S. I do not think Phil's post was " flaming " or offensive at all.
