Guest guest
Hi, Welcome to our group. My name is Iris and my diagnosis has changed several times over the years. When I was 15, I awoke one morning to a swollen right ankle that had fever in it and pain. I also had a lot of fatigue. My mother took me to several different kinds of docs, but they didn't know what to make of it. This went on for years especially when it was hot and humid. As a child, I couldn't go out in the heat without being miserable. The next symptoms were a locked jaw that required surgery, pain radiating from my hip to my toes on the left side, and pain in my back to the front that made it hard for me to breathe. As the years went by the pain increased and I was diagnosed with FM and reactive arthritis. Now the evidence is there, many joints that are diseased, a knee that needs a replacement, and hands, feet, hips, etc., showing joint damage. Some of the worse part is when your bones just ache and you feel if you could massage them deep inside, it might help. I would imagine that our members have had every possibly known symptom at one time or another. Sometimes the story reads a little different from one person to the next, but they all follow the same plot. What's your story? Guest guest
My RA, at age 32, started with a raging sinus infection. Truly the worse sinus infection I had ever had. Within a week my hands and feet hurt very bad. I remember trying to get 3 kids off to school (my husband and I had just separated at the time) and me off to work for physicians and the pain and stiffness was so tough that I had to come down the steps in my home, on my rear end......and that was the beginning which was 20 yrs.ago....Life is always a surprise. Guest guest
How did my RA start? Well lets see its hard to tell. 4 years ago after my 4th child was born I started to have aching in my hands. I went to the doc and told her I felt like garbage. tired, yucky and iky feeling. My joints hurt and I lacked appetite and felt like I needed help but wasnt quite sure what was wrong. I asked her to test me for RA and thyroid issues and anything else she could think of. All tests came back NORMAL I went home and cried totally confused felling like crap. I was 26 at that time. As I think back I had 4 kids in 6 years and if Ra puts you in remission then I could of had this as a teen as how I started having babies at 19. 9 months ago i started getting REALLY sick. Horrible stomach pains and back pain so I went to the ER and found out I had Gall stones. Had my gall bladder removed and still felt really bad and my joints really starting to KILL me went to my doc told him i had done alot of reading and I was pretty sure I had RA he tested me and I was positive. Mostly my hands, feet, and knees ache 24/7 my I have become really tired and if i do to much of anything in 1 day I pay for it for 2-3 days. I feel alot like I have the flu where my whole body aches and i just want to crawl out of my skin. My neck and back hurt alot but I also have scoliosis that I have metal rods in my back when i was 14. so not sure if its the RA or other. I have a terrible Rhuemy and am moving to missouri and will have a new doc soon who i pray will start a new meds on me. Hope this helps. Take care, Latisha daffy11149@... wrote:In a message dated 08/06/2004 8:14:28 AM Mountain Daylight Time, writes: --- dannzo1 <dannzo@...> wrote: > i would like to know what led sufferers to discover their RA. what > symptoms did they suffer with. do any of you have spinal pain, > burning in the groin, pain in the tendons of the upper arms and legs, > pain in the back of the neck, swollen right ankle? any help would be > appreciated.
