Time Between Diagnosis and Tx

I was diagnosed in 1992 and had my tx in 1998. When I was diagnosed they

told me it would be 10 to 15 years before I needed a tx. I was listed a

year before my tx. The week before my tx I had a variceal bleed that

resulted in me being resuscitated in the ER and having my varices banded

at the same time.

That was the second time I had been resuscitated. A very weird thing to

go through when you've been on the other side, as I had for so many

years as an ER physician. I was awake through the whole thing but

couldn't move or speak. Very strange.

By the way, my sister had a colectomy for UC and 6 months later had a

pouch and reanastamosis done in one procedure. If I ever have to have a

colectomy, I'm hoping to have the whole thing done in one shot the first

time.
