Guest guest
He is going to stay in NY for treatment and hopefully they will start treatment by the first of Sept. He is doing better. I caught him on a bad day and then a good day so I got to experience both. It is hard to stay uplifted and be happy when I just want to cry with what he is going through but I know that won't help him so I think about what I am going to say before I call and have it a little scripted out so that I can stay happy. He talked to the doctors about going back home to Florida to do his treatment but they told him the treatment he is going to have isn't done in Florida. I know he would have felt more comfortable back in his home but he will get there soon if all goes well with his treatments. Thank you all for your continued prayers. God bless, Althea

Guest guest
Beth, your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I lost my dad to bone cancer last year, so I know some of what you are going through. When my dad was having a tough time with his cancer, we lived in Hawaii, and he was in Texas. It was hard not being there with him daily, but I flew back often. However, my group of wives out in Hawaii sent him cards, to get well. Some of them didn't even know me personally, but they took it upon themselves to mail my dad a card and wish him the best. My dad loved recieving the cards. He got one almost daily, and it really lifted his spirits, to know that people that don't even know him cared so much about him, just from hearing me talk about him so much. If you would like, I can send your dad a card as well! That goes for anyone on the list that is having trouble with something and needs a little bit of encouragment. I saw how it changed my dad, and I would like to do the same for others in the same situation. Helen update on my dad Hi everyone: It's been a very exhausting week for us. My dad is still in the hospital and spent 2 days in ICU this week. Things have gotten very complicated. The good news is his cancer is essentially in remission. The bad news is that he has a lot of fluid in his lungs that they can't clear up. He also has had a heart valve problem that we've known about for a long time, but its getting worse and more critical. It should be fixed, but if they did surgery right now, he would not survive. So we are fighting an uphill battle, and one that we will not conquer anytime soon. Hannah is having a terrible time with all of this. My kids are very close to my parents and she is such a sensitive soul she's having a hard time. She is also flaring like crazy (and has been for several weeks before all this happened with my dad). Her knee gave out on her AGAIN this week, but she's ok with her brace on. She goes for a PT eval next week. So if you could keep both her and my dad (and Jay too) in your prayers I would appreciate it. Beth Sending prayers & happy thoughts, Beth :-) Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now.
Guest guest
Beth,Helen reminded me of something. There is a group called chemo angels and they send cards to people going through a hard time during cancer treatment. It is an amazing group of people. During my moms year long battle against lung cancer she received well over two hundred cards and small gifts. The encouragement and prayers meant so much to her and our entire family. Even if he is done with treatment and in remission during his ICU stint they will probably be willing to send him love and encouragement. Just a thought. With Love, (JAS, 23) update on my dad Hi everyone: It's been a very exhausting week for us. My dad is still in the hospital and spent 2 days in ICU this week. Guest guest
Beth:I am so very sorry to hear about your dad. I hope that he continues to improve. I will continue my prayers for him and your family. I think it would be an awesome idea for us all to send cards of encouragement to him, if you think he would like that. If you do, maybe you could email one of us his address privately, and then that person could disseminate the address to all who wanted to? I'm sure your life is hectic enough right now, so one of us would be happy to do that for you...let us know, ok? and Rob 18 JAS update on my dad> > > > > Hi everyone:> It's been a very exhausting week for us. Guest guest
Hi Beth, Sorry to hear that things have been so difficult for your dad. It's wonderful news to hear that the cancer is in remission but now you have the worrisome immediate concerns about his lungs etc. I hope that he begins to regain is strength soon. I wish Hannah were improving. Let me know how your PT eval goes. I have that on my top priority of things to do Monday. It's been hard to get everything done lately. Aundrea had a pretty good week. We increased her night time medicine and she seems to be sleeping better. The tutor is coming and everything is finally organized with school. Before we know it summer will be here. :-) You are all in my prayers. (aundrea 12 fibromyalgia)- -- In , " hadley_messner " <hmessner@...> wrote: > > I'm so sorry to hear all of this.
