Guest guest
Here's a lesson I learned today, and I'll pass it on to you. 1. Read the fine print on your prescriptions! I take Topamax, 100 mg 3 times a day. One of the side effects is that it can cause you to NOT sweat, which I didn't realize until a few days ago. I cut grass this afternoon and while I wore one of those neck scarfs that you wet and keep in the fridge, I apparently overheated, because I passed out on the patio, and woke up to find a very worried husband and very gorgeous EMT kneeling beside me. After an uneventful trip to the hospital for a checkup (no serious injury, just a bump on the head and a bruised elbow) I am home with instructions to stay out of the heat and sun and drink lots of water the next few days. 2. Keep a record of your prescriptions posted in plain sight. The EMT's were very amazed because I had asked the pharmacist to make copies of the fronts of all our prescription bottles and had this posted on the front of the fridge. It shows what we take, how much, and the current date of the prescription. They said everyone should do that, as it leaves no doubt as to what might be causing a problem. They knew right away at the hospital what had caused my heat reaction. OK, Ron's calling me for some ice cream. Guess this experience had its benefits--good looking paramedics and ice cream!
