Guest guest
First, it goes without saying that each person should check with their own doctor regarding any vaccinations. Having said that, last fall I was on Enbrel and my doctor had me take the flu vaccination. He stated that I was not to take any live virus vaccination and that I was to stay away from anyone who had taken a live virus vaccination for two weeks after the injection. The precautions that he gave to help stay healthy were to stay away from crowds especially during the peak flu season, handwashing and more handwashing, using hand sanitizer everytime I thought about it through the day, keeping my hands away from my face, using disinfectant on doorknobs, etc. and to stay hydrated with plenty of water. He cautioned me to ask about the vaccinations each year as it needs to be re-evaluated based on my disease level and health each year. And during a really bad flu season, check with your doctor around Feb (here in the US) to see if you need to be revaccinated for additional protection to last through a longer flu season. Again, check with your doctor as your disease activity and current labs will dictate what is right for you. Janie
