Guest guest
Among the many proteins made in the liver are a series of proteins involved in the cascade of reactions that cause blood clotting. When these are in short supply cuts and scratches take longer to heal, bruises last longer, etc. In addition vitamin K absorption is reduced, often leading to a deficiency in vitamin K, a vital part of the the clotting mechanism. (I think Pam and Quantell can vouch for that). My opinion is that mosquito bites are another example of how our bodies slow down when we don't have a full complement of proteins from the liver. The normal action of neutralizing the bite may take 24 hours with a healthy liver, but 3 times as long when what is needed to do the job is in short supply. Guest guest
I have read, and it seems logical, that people who react to mosquito bites are actually having an allergic reaction to them. It's a histamine response. Just for the heck of it, take a benadryl some day when you won't mind having a flat brain wave or being comatose...see if that reduces the itching. If you are like me you cannot take benadryl when you have to do anything other than breathe.
