Guest guest
I have to second this. We have to keep in mind that cartilage erosion is invisible. We don't realize it is going on until there is no more cartilage and thus no more padding between bones. Bone on bone pain is excruciating. Stopping meds that are preventing erosion isn't a great idea unless there is no choice. I've heard of people stopping meds and when they go back on them, they aren't as effective. You can also go into a flare from stopping them. I'm going through that right now since I had to stop enbrel because of having a cold. Although enbrel scares me, whenever I've had to stop due to being sick, it lets me know how well it was working. a > Cindi, > > I'm not sure why your physician wasn't aware that you were no longer on > prednisone, but discontinuation of meds or taking " drug holidays " > without your rheumatologist's knowledge is something I can't endorse. > > In order for your rheumatologist to help you most effectively, honest > communication is essential.
