Guest guest
Hi Semalee, My name is Latisha Im 31 and diagnosed 8 minths ago with RA I have had joint pain for at least 4 years but also I hear pregnancy puts you in remission I was pregnant or nursing from the age 20 to 26. I had 4 kids in 6 years. I started taking remicade 5 months ago. I was very scared and really fought taking it but my Rhuemy told me I would be crippled in 3 years if I did not take quick action. Talk about fear so I said ok lets do it. He never put me on anything else or never tried anything else first. He turned out to be a real jerk since I have moved to Missouri have a new doc and now taking methotrexate and also suppose to take plaquinel. I hate meds and after asking tons of questions to the group here they have encouraged me greatly and I will start my other meds later this week . As far as infection I have had no problems. No colds, no flu but then again I homeschool my kids and am a germ killing freak. My kids have been sick and I just wash my hands real good. I did teach sunday school at church and was careful around the kids. Has my remicade worked? I dont think so. I am going to ask my doc to switch me to Humira the shot twice a week. My thinking is if I get sick then I can stop shots get well and start again. With remicade you get infusions every 8 weeks so its kinda hard to stop to get well. But thats just my opinion. Who knows. Alot of people have been helped by the biologics and I am still praying that God will use this as a tool to help me. Keep asking your doc and everyone here as many questions as you can. Everyone here is so great and I have learned so much and have been so greatly blessed and know that there are other who are a e-mail away to understand me. I will be praying for you that the Lord will give you the wisdom and discernment you need to make the right chioce for your healing. Take care, Latisha Semalee <Semalee@...> wrote: Hi, my name is Semalee and I am new to this list. I am wondering if I can just jump in with questions? I was diagnosed in 84 with JRA and it went into remission when I was 17 and now at 29 it is back, but this time with a vengeance!! After a year of being on MTX, and Naproxen then Ibruprofen then Vioxx now Bextra, it is still progressing and I am in a lot of pain most of the time. My knuckles and wrists are swollen and bumpy, gross looking. My toes were all that were hurting, now it is my whole feet, ankles and occasionnally my knees. My doctor wants me to move onto remicade, humira, or enbrel, because we have otherwise hit a dead end. I am very scared about these drugs, but also don't want to be in a wheelchair either. I am wondering what everyone's feelings are on these drugs... Thank you very much for your help! Semalee

Guest guest
Thanks for responding Latisha... Aren't we supposed to be older than this before having these problems! LOL!! I am slightly encouraged about the remicade etc.., and I think I will give my doctor a call tomorrow. I have to do something. At this point I am thinking I should ask him for one of those mirror hangers for handicap for the car so I can use it when I am in a lot of pain, but I don't need it all the time. My feet are so painful lately it really scares me. I have been on the MTX for about 7 months and I haven't had any problems with it at all... Guest guest
Yeah I know what you mean by being scared. little things i have been noticing i cant do anymore. I used to teach sewing lessons now i cant even hardly do it for me most of the time now. Typing is so hard for me to. I think the hardest part is not knowing HOW BAD it will get before the meds start working or if they will work. SO I try not to think about it too much and try to remember God gives hope and strenght to those who ask. So I ask ALOT My feet have been hurting also I can feel myself getting worse as the months pass. I know we are awful young to feel so old. At 30 were suppose to be at our prime. oh well that life. Keep us updated on how you are doing. Have a good day. Latisha Semalee <Semalee@...> wrote:Thanks for responding Latisha... Aren't we supposed to be older than this before having these problems!
