Guest guest
Hi Sue- Yes, I am still taking Bextra. I got some studies and read them....the main one the press uses as a basis to stop taking Bextra seems to be the one where they gave post-CABG (bypass) patients 80mg per day. CABG patients already have coagulopathies, and then they gave them 4 times the normal daily dose of Bextra and they had a cardiovascular problem. Well, no shit (exuse my language). The dose I take daily is 20mg. I used to take ibuprofen, but my stomach just can't take it anymore on a regular basis. I've had an ulcer in the past as well. Because of all the meds I take I already take Zantac twice daily, even without the Ibuprofen. So in my case, I feel okay still taking it, and I really hope it isn't taken off the market. I do think that with ANY drug, even OTCs, you have to evaluate what is safe and right for you given your own health history. If I smoked or was on birth control pills, I might not take Bextra. It is all so individual. Unfortunately, some MDs just write the prescriptions and don't really consider all the other meds and history-cuz it takes some time. I feel that is the real culprit here.
