Guest guest
After almost 2yrs of only prednisone and motrin for my RA my new doc gave me mtx. She gave me info about the things I take, but not the motrin. Does anyone know if I can still take it with the mtx. Thank you!
Guest guest
I have been taking motrin along with the mtx. You just have to be carefull with over the counter pain meds. Tylenol and motrin both can have adverse effects on the liver over time, though it takes a large quantity to involve the liver like that. MTX also is harsh on the liver. The best thing to do is ask your rheumatologist or her nurse.....Marina in Ohio > After almost 2yrs of only prednisone and motrin for my RA my new doc > gave me mtx. Guest guest
, Taking ibuprofen and methotrexate together is common, but you should contact your rheumatologist and discuss it. NSAIDs like ibuprofen can increase MTX toxicity, so your physician must be aware that you are taking it and OK the dosage. I'll tell you where to go! Actually, more than 2 grams of Tylenol a day is considered toxic to your liver. Cary
