Guest guest
\ I brought up up previously that IMP might consider a contribution to AAFP to support a scholarship fund to the SA assembly for folks The IHI has scholarships IMP has scholarships Not everyone is an MD or an FP in IMP but my idea was along the same lines Jean Switch to: Text-Only, Daily Digest • Unsubscribe • Terms of Use .. Anyone interested in helping me put forth a proposal to AAFP to change their membership fees to allow greater involvement by smaller practices? I recently became a member of a Washington state primary care group that bases it's fees on per provider--it's like $2.50 per FTE provider--so for us $5/year and for the big groups obviously much more. I would like to see AAFP adopt something that also allows for different membership fees based on group size. Out here in Washington state my local chapter of Family Physicians as well as my state chapter (WAFP) is fairly active and involved in promoting primary care and health care reform. There is a lot of energy currently given upcoming health care changes as well as lack of funds in most cost effective medicine. and folks are starting to site the need for payment reform, insurance reform, system reform in order have adequate reimbursement for appropriate care at the appropriate time. And recognizing this improves health and saves money. The catch phrase currently is the medical home model--a name for what we have been doing and do so well. In any case, I think IMPs have a lot to offer to the bigger instituitions because of our base of knowledge and experience. I also think that if we're not involved in the discussions, our small low overhead model will be left out. So I'm trying to be a voice and active in my local and state chapter. And I heard from many in the group before that the $800 plus cost to be a member prevents many from being involved. Definately! So I'd love help, support in writing a proposal-due early february- to take to the state--would be great if others could take to their respective states also. Let me know!
