Guest guest
We charge $20. The patients want us to do them so they can save money. If we don't do it, their copay is higher. They can do the math and figure out what is cheaper. Pratt one of the crazy things insurances make us do is PAs. how do you deal with these? even omeprazole has to have PAs right now. insurance companies are the ones calling the shots as to what to prescribe and making it harder for us to use our brains and not follow their lead. there has to be something someone can do to make this less ridiculous. i have a girl who is part time who does just this. sigh. grrrrace
Guest guest
No, unless you formally send a dismissal letter, you are agreeing to allow herself to be noncompliant. Sets you up for a lawsuit. If you cannot get her in soon and lay down the rules, then you send a dismissal letter, citing noncompliance. Send one copy certified and one regular mail. Allow 30 days for emergency services. That way, if she continues to be noncompliant, you have formally dismissed yourself from being her provider and the family cannot come back at you if there is an adverse reaction. As always, documentation is key. Pratt Do I have to? What I mean she already has dischsrged herself hasnt she?Sangeetha Sounds like it is time to dismiss her. We will often blame the state: " in order for Dr. Pratt to comply with state regulations, he is required to see you at least once per year if you want him to continue to prescribe your medication for you. " Pratt DONE THAT ,and done that and done that, with one of the patients, she came in reluctantly last year, but just absolutely refuses to come in this year, its just a mind set I guess. Sangeetha I don't give more that 3 months refills ... I have a policy about calling for refills. In it it states that when your refills have expired it is your responsibility have your appointment scheduled to have the prescription filled in a timely manner ( it says something like that) > right they are former patients now, but the mind is BOGGLED > > > Sangeetha > > > On Wed, Jan 25, 2012 at 8:54 AM, Pierce > wrote: > >> ** >> >> >> " Give them a 30day rx, no refills along with a letter asking them to >> either come in for reeval or they need to switch to another doctor. Guest guest
there is no explanation for people not just patients unwilling to take responsibility for themselves. my general rule which has saved me time and time again is: if i care MORE than the patient himself/herself AND another family member, that means i am wasting my time. so i discharge them. no matter what the reason, no matter what the situation. it is not worth having a heart attack over, or losing my attendance at my kids' PTA meeting. grace
