Guest guest
Why do the stories never cease to amaze us? We know this stuffand we are still amazed We know here about a second opinion about a pathology -sent out the slides--> $5,000. I heard about that bill right about the time a nice woman whose charges I routinely reduce for yrs every single visit, whose kid I have helped enormously called me up and berated me for charging 12.00 to transfer records to another part of the state and asked me to c all her back( why for more abuse??) but I did and she just went on and on and on) I am glad the munchkin is ok I met your kids in Woodland Park they were cool. Wait! in fact one of them wailed outsdie the pool and I hauled a dripping blonde little thing into the confernece room to find ! Bill them tell them you do not work for free Point out the inequitiesNO bill no services.(unless they can recriminate and say it is part of privileges KNow the rules first and if so then bring it up at med staff and say excsue me bad inequity here) - Jean IMPs, , my youngest had a high fever and abdominal pain two weeks ago. He was pretty sick, so we took him to our local ER. Bill was $7800 for 4.5 hours in ER. No radiology bill or physicians bills yet. I have been providing call coverage for this hospital for 8 years 24 hours per day 4 days per month for free. Recently, they employed a hospitalist actually 3 to provide 24/7 admitting coverage, but I am still covering for free. Has anyone successfully billed a hospital for covered call? Over the last 8 years and I have provided one full year of hospitalist services, the exact service the 3 hospitalist have provided this year. I am sure they are paid at least $1000/day. and I will pay the bill because he could easily have had appendicitis, but we are not sure we will continue to provide free call coverage. We are thinking $10/hour on call or about $1000/month for 4 DAYS OF COVERAGE. -- MD ph fax
Guest guest
I know a local group that the docs get paid $1000/day for call coverage. But they are neurosurgeons, and it is for trauma call only. And that was about 5 years ago. Nice gig, if you can get it! Regular, old " ER backup " used to be part of the deal for Steve (when we lived in OR). All of the primary care docs were on rotation for it, part of having privileges at the hospital, unless you elected to use the hospitalists, which Steve's group didn't. That is one of the single-most reasons why we moved from there. You can't get it, if you don't at least ask. Worst they can do is say no. Best you can do is say no back!
