He started as Gomer Pyle on the Andy Griffith show, before they spun it off.

From a Gomer Pyle website (there were actually quite a few websites :):

" One of classic TV's earliest spin-off series,

Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. was the country cousin to

The Andy Griffith Show. Originally introduced in

the third season of Andy Griffith, Gomer was the

local mechanic with an uncanny aptitude for annoyance.

Sweet as pie but as dense as a stump, Gomer forever

vexed Sheriff Andy and Deputy Barney Fife with

his sweet buffoonery. A stand-out in the ensemble cast,

Jim Nabors, who played Gomer, was offered his own

series after a little more than a year. The pilot was

aired as an episode of Andy Griffith, in which dimwitted

Gomer decides to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps. "

He had a transplant in 1994.

<I thought Jim Nabors was dead. Wasn't it Don Knots

that was on The Andy Show? Don't remember Jim

Nabors being on there. >

Andi,

as you know, Mike takes a slew of alternatives...but one thing he takes that

he felt increased his energy was high dose B-12....

it's very cheap, you can also get your Dr. to give you shots of it, Mike

used to do that...the Dr. went on vacation and he started taking it

orally....he really feels a difference...

While he is waiting, I would think that it would be a good time to research all types of operation advailiable for him, when I say research, I mean checking reserch labs results and information, then once your result return you will be better equip to decide which operation is best for you.Billie Knight wrote: Thanks for everyones encouraging words and advise, believe me it helps to know others have walked this walk and are still around to tell about it. I suppose the answer to this question can be linked to the game of darts.

In the UK we have expert dart players who can hit treble twenty 6 times out of 10.

The better the player the better the chances of hitting the mark.

So a good surgeon is going to increase the chances, but what the surgeon finds when he gets in there is also a factor. If he or she has to cut more to make long term survival more likely then there is less chance of keeping the nerves.

It seems to be save the nerves if possible, then retain continence next but overall to give long term survival. The surgeon can't just be a robot, he or she has to make QOL affecting decisions whilst the patient is asleep.

"Is there any way of determining, prior to surgery, if the nerves can be spared?"

.

If you are asking "Will I be sexually potent after surgery?" then the answer is there is no answer.

Nerve sparing has become sort of a buzz word of the surgeons but just remember to not bet the farm on the outcome of an RRP. No one can guarantee the outcome of surgery. There are too many unknowns going in. Get the best doctor you can. Study the disease. Make an informed decision and do not look back.

All my best to you in your quest.

I will not do anything that undermines what I consider in my lowly little mind to be just, the existence of Israel.

I go back to the story of Eshu in the village. And how we often only see the one side even when we see the other side. Because in some ways, again, we don't want to see the "we" in the we.

Just as Israel has the right to exist, so does Palestine. Something "we" have forgotten over the course of the past 60 years. Without partition, there can be no peace.

The story of Eshu as it was told to me had the opposites of black and white and I often think of this situation in that sense. And of the song by McCartney:

Ebony and IvoryLive together in perfect harmonySide by side on my piano keyboardOh Lord, why don't we ?

We all know that people are the samewherever you goThere's good and bad in everyoneWe learn to live, we learn to give each otherWhat we need to surviveTogether alive

Ebony and IvoryLive together in perfect harmonySide by side on my piano keyboardOh Lord, why don't we ?

Ebony, Ivory, living in perfect harmonyEbony, Ivory, ooh

We all know that people are the samewherever you goThere's good and bad in everyoneWe learn to live, we learn to give each otherWhat we need to surviveTogether alive

Ebony and IvoryLive together in perfect harmonySide by side on my piano keyboardOh Lord, why don't we ?

Side by side on my piano keyboardOh Lord, why don't we ?

Ebony, Ivory, living in perfect harmony

So, indeed, why don't "we?"

Dear Mike,

I have been sitting here reading your post over and over and I am still dissatisfied in my mind. Not because I don't agree with much of what you say, but because at the end I am left sitting here in my den at the computer still having to face the knowledge of a war still going on with all its violence in the Middle East.

I can wish happiness for others until the day I die, and I often do. Being mistaken is not exactly something new for me.Nor do think I have the answer or any answer except my concept of justice for both sides. My little small sense says all sides stop. lay down your arms and live in peace.

So, I am still here at my house watching the continued carnage. Of course I want the suffering to stop on both sides, but that won't happen because I want it to. I really don't need anyone to tell me I project. Jung already told me that long ago and I am very aware of that and my humanness in being unable to deny that were someone threatening me or those close to me or probably anyone) bodily harm, I would try to defend myself either by running away with them or yes, trying to stop them ( of course I don't have any weapons, wont have them ever, or realizing that I can only accept what comes in reality from violence or try to avoid it in speech or thoughts. But I am not martyr material and never was. Especially if it is not I but whoever is next to me I am not protecting.Who actually knows what they would do in the face of great danger.?

Showing respect and care is how many of us try to lead our ordinary lives, but it is not something one can force others to do.I can try, not with my power but that lent to me by my Source to love those who threaten and kill. by G-d, I do try. Yes, I too do not divide others into "us" and "them "

So, now what? Want me to sign that petition you posted. NO . I believe in equal justice for both sides. So, I am just one of those who won't admit her wrong-headedness. I will not do anything that undermines what I consider in my lowly little mind to be just, the existence of Israel. Of course I have no divine knowledge. Of course I do not have the answers. I never assumed I did. But I do have the human mind to find something I believe in, many things in fact, which I treasure.

I also believe, however backward that seems to some, that fear is the greatest deterrent to happiness. There are some who over the years have managed, in my opinion with grace, not to be afraid. I can manage that myself with grace. But I am old.I do not fear death.Pain is still able to scare me a bit( I am working on that),and I am trying hard to work on un-attachment. Yes, I have peace. Not always because I relapse, but often. I share your wonder and amazement often in gratitude.

I see the world as not yet feeling itself redeemed. I see fear, especially lately everywhere. We have been so blessed, Ray and I feel secure as much as any human being can feel that way. Sickness will come or not, losing each other will come, but we live in peace within ourselves, even if sometimes the world charges in.

I do not see your really great ideas changing the behavior in the Middle East or anywhere else soon. I see reality and it is turmoil...in so many people's lives. My solution is that humanity will become more conscious a little at a time. I try hard not to set it back. But pleading for justice I do even if I admit I really do not know true "justice"

So... the 'solution' (if solution there is) seems to be in sharing, embracing, trusting, educating, ordinary human kindness, all of which - it seems to me - are within easy reach of ordinary human intelligence.Sounds a little condescending to me, but then I do project, and it is probably the furthest thing from your mind. I also think yes, it would be lovely, but it does not yet exist. If it existed there would be no violence for you and me to write about.and yes:

The world, we know and Alice repeats, is as we see it. In fact what we see is not 'the world' but only what we believe the world to be.

I cannot escape that . I see a world, real or not where violence is playing itself out. I just cannot escape being human, but I do believe there is more. But to deny the reality of pain here and now will not lead to peace, I think.

I'm doing good, I have had much worse pain days so I'll take what I can get.

Hows everything going in Kentucky? Weather good? We've had a lot of rain

here the last couple of weeks and now its hot and muggy and my A/C in my

suburban quite after I spent over $200 getting it fixed. Gotta get it back

in the shop and see whats wrong again. Take care and talk to you later.

Hey....man...it's quite around here isn't it?

Fox News responded to the pain thing.  They had an addict expert that

differentiated the addiction and folks like us.  Man...they got an earful from

painers.  The American Pain Foundation sent me a letter saying it was a pretty

good success.  At least they heard. It always helps to keep media people up on

things and any reason to raise a voice or two is great.

I haven't posted much because I have been in so much pain. For some reason my

doctor is refusing to refill my pain meds. I don't know if it's the new nurse or

his orders. I am very upset!!!! Going to try and see him tomorrow, not sure how

I will approach him and what to say but I am plenty pissed!!!  I am in so much

pain that I cry at times. Anyway, that's what I've been doing.

,

Sorry to hear your Dr. just cut you off! I hope he is aware of withdrawl

problems. I'm on Pain killers. The neurologist is still looking for the cause of

my severe neck pain. I cannot move it without pain.

Hope you get some relief soon. Find a new Dr. if you have to.

Hi ,

Oh I am sooo sorry your Dr is doing that! Like someone else mentioned, does he

realize you will go through withdrawl? You need to be tapered down with the meds

in order to prevent withdrawl (which I've heard is really horrible!). Have you

improved or what is the reason he is not refilling the meds? If you are unhappy

with the care he gives you it might be time to switch Dr's.

I wish you the best with this

Hugs,

I know God will not give me anything I
