Guest guest
Hi Donnie, Yes, we are all lucky to have found this group and have a place to come and share our lives. I hope after you move you won't be without internet for long because we'll all be worrying about you! Sorry about your dog! Oh I bet he smells awful! I have heard that a bath in tomato juice gets rid of the smell; have you tried that? Guest guest
, I have had a low pain week so far. Thank God, because my husband left yesterday and won't be home until Thursday night. I always worry @ me being in so much pain that I can't take care of the boys. On the other hand, it's nice not having him grousing around the house! He walks around the house like he's mad as hell, but when I ask him what's wrong, he screams at me that nothing is wrong. I don't miss that, that's for sure. I'm glad you're OK and write more when you're up to it. Hugs, Alanna Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry (unknown) To: Hugs-N-Pain@ yahoogroups. com Date: Thursday, July 9, 2009, 8:46 PM Hi! Guest guest
Donnie, I feel the same way about this group - it's such a blessing. I also feel the same way @ going out and finding someone else while you're still married. It's just not right. Sorry to hear about your dog. My dog got skunked when I was a young girl and came inside the house before my mom realized what happened. It took FOREVER to get rid of that smell! Anyway keep us posted @ your move and I hope you can stay in touch - you can use the computers at the library if you have to. I hope your pain is better too. Guest guest
Lotacats, We should be a lot less worried @ this tylenol thing and a lot more worried @ national healthcare. I was listening to the radio this morning and it scared the crapity, crap, crap out of me. Mr. Obama has created a TRILLION dollar deficit and it's only July! Now they are trying to push thru this 1000 page healthcare reform before anyone can read it. Besides creating another 5 trillion dollar deficit, it will drive up the costs of private healthcare so high that most employers will choose to pay the 8% penalty on their payroll and NOT provide insurance to their employees. They project that 2 out of 3 Americans will lose their private insurance! So much for Mr. Obama's promise that we could all keep our current healthcare if we want! That's just the beginning. Because doctors will be losing money on every patient they see under the government plan, the rest of us will be forced to pick up the slack! Of course the cherry on top will be the long waits for any kind of service - it takes 9 months for arthritis care in the UK! How many doctors will just throw in the towel and quit practicing? Can you imagine if we couldn't get into see our doctors every month to get our prescriptions? And of course the government, not our doctors will be the ones who have the final say as to whether we are too sick or to old to have certain medical care. Sorry, I really just needed to vent. Guest guest
Alana, I agree its expensive and the timing is bad but there are many fundamental problems with our current system. They can't get enough GP's in the system. That's because GP's only make 190K a year. That statement alone says it all. When is 190K a year chump change? When you live in the most greedy country on earth, that's when. Man, we got a lot of fundamental moral problems don't we. No one wants to say the truth. We are payng through the nose for our fast food diet. Whenever I travel back to America from another country, our people look way overweight compared to the rest of the world and I am a bit ashamed. . There are many fundamental gaps in coverage that need to be addressed. I would agree that Obama's plan is too much but I am a gapper and I ( and presumably millions of others) need more options for health care. I plan to retire at 56 or 57 and I need to be able to purchase coverage until Medicare kicks in. I would like not to pay 15,000 a year for it. Current retirees in my company pay up to 750.00 a month for insurance. This can be half of their pensions. Where is the justice in that. The problem is the cost of care, ( McCain's mantra) . The problem is also that Republicans and Democrats are incapable of uniting on the issue of cost reduction. It affects profitablilty and ultimately the campaign coffers. Also, this is the only country on earth where your assets can be siezed to pay medical bills. I am not sure about the difficulty in care in other countries. you can find upset and discontented people wherever you look. I am sure however that companies are spending billions of dollars to convince us that medical care in other countries is deficient. I am not convinced that it is. Admittedly, countries with coordinated health care are much smaller in population than the USA and I'm sure thats why the systems work reasonably well. But average folk in these countries probably don't have many negavtive things to say about their respective systems. Its like America. If you're rich, you are going to get the care you want anyway. A genuine dilemma for sure. Be aggressive in managing your own care and your own health. Cheers and hopes for a manageable pain day for all of us. dk To: Hugs-N-Pain From: awilgus@... Guest guest
, I'm sorry you are having issues with insurance coverage. I think however that redistribution of wealth is NOT the answer. The piece of the puzzle I forgot to mention is they plan on paying for all of this " free healthcare " by taxing small businesses. Those " evil rich " are the ones who provide many if not most of the jobs in our country. So when we tax them to death, who's going to pay for everyone's insurance? Free Enterprise is what makes our country great and socialism has never worked for anyone. There are many policies available for much less than $750 per month (yes, I've looked around) and states offer high risk insurance for people who have trouble getting insurance. Besides, shouldn't such a huge project be studied and talked about? Why are they rushing into this blindly like they did the wonderful Stimulus Bill (which is not working as far as I can tell)? I'm sure there are some people in other countries who are happy with their healthcare. Most are not, or don't know any better. The government is doing such a wonderful job at running the auto companies. Just ask the dealers who have spent their whole lives building up a business, just to get a letter saying that they must close down. One day the dealership was worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and the next it was worthless. That's really fair isn't it? Everybody wants a handout, but where's the money going to come from? Maybe you'll be happy when the country is BANKRUPT! Guest guest
Lotacats, You said it! I just don't trust these guys. This sounds kind of crazy, but what we should do is go back to paying for our medical care and cut out all these greedy insurance companies! The doctors would be making money again, costs would go down and care would go up. I've heard of doctors contracting with patients to give care for a flat rate. As it is doctors are spending a fortune on billing and getting reimbursed for a fraction of their expenses while the insurance companies get rich. There has to be a better way! I'm sorry you are feeling so poorly. I had something similar a couple of summers ago. It went on so long that my husbnd loaded me into the car and took me to the ER. They told me it was a virus and there was nothing they could do. Maybe you could take some vitamin C or echinacea to help you fight it off. I'll send you some healing vibes and prayers as well. Guest guest
Donnie, I've had a good week painwise. It's been warm and sunny and my husband was on a business trip, so I didn't have him crabbing at me. I'm sorry your pain is so bad. Maybe the stress of moving is making it worse. Guest guest
Our distance is not that geat on health care. I have never advocated handouts and have worked 30 years as an Engineer. I am convinced however that greed and competetive intrests have made our health system costs completely out of line. 12 or 13 hunderd dollars change hands whenever I get an MRI. My epidural injections are a thousand a shot. WHY. I must disagree with the car thing however. The government needs to stay out of it and let them go bankrupt without stimulus. The mom and pop dealers are closing because the companies are bankrupt and those are the terms. it hurts but it is absolutely necessary. We all let it go. We supported NAFTA and watched our industrial jobs crash and burn. GM, Ford and Chrysler are where they are financially because we ( collectively) refused to appreciate the need to buy American ( from the local dealers) and the American companies got lazy and exclusively produced vehicles that nobody wanted and wanted even less when gas went to 4.00. That is getting better but they're a little late. Their retirees pay next to nothing for health care and that legacy cost is aded to the cost of the vehicles. Thats why a 15K Chevy Cobalt doesn't look attractive next to a 15K Honda. The Chevy is only worth 12K. and the Honda is underpriced because they are non-union and have no retirement health care to pay. We welcome these companies here , give them tax breaks to set up shop. One system has replaced the other. Some would say thats the way it should be. I instead think its one of our problems. Americans need to make things again. Without industry, we will be paying for the jobless and their health care forever, one way or another. Lets taklkabout something else. david kurek > To: Hugs-N-Pain > From: awilgus@... > Date: Thu, 16 Jul 2009 15:42:44 +0000 > Subject: Re: (unknown) > > , > I'm sorry you are having issues with insurance coverage. Guest guest
Since the MsContin I've slept better.  Now to get that message to my mean black cat, CC. She had been kinda restless at night lately and has seen fit to give my arm a bath while I'm sleeping...and just needy as heck.  Want's to cuddle and get close and meow...all in the wee small hours.  Waking up to a wet arm and her wanting the cuddles at small hours. Guest guest
, I totally agree that health care is out of control - my MRI cost over $3000! That's because they've taken free enterprise ou of the picture with insurance. If we had to pay for this stuff, people would shop around and that would keep costs down. As it is, most facilities won't even give you a price ahead of time! I also agree that we should NEVER have gotten involved with the auto industry. If a company can't make a profit, let them figure it out or go out of business. I wouldn't buy a foreign car if my life depended on it, and we should feel that way @ everything we buy. ARGHHHHH! You're right, let's talk @ something else. It is COLD! I may have to turn the heat on if it get's any colder. I am just laying in bed, all bundled up, reading " Angels and Demons " . It's getting pretty exciting, so with that I'm done rambling. Hope your pain is low today. Guest guest
, I live near Milwaukee in Wisconsin. It feels like fall here! It was only 65 degrees yesterdy and cloudy, so I've bee hurting pretty bad. I know what you mean about things bothering me more when the pain is high. That's to be expected. Sounds like a plan with the gator! Whatever you do, don't let onto your son that you don't like her. That just makes him want her all the more for some reason. If she's dumb and not pretty, it won't last. I'll say a prayer that your pain let's up soon and that the gator's get hungry!
