Guest guest
I'm in the same boat Donnie. I pay $264 a month for insurance out of my little disability check then by Sept. I have to pay for ALL my medicine til the end of the year. Some months my check isn't enough to pay for my meds. I know its a joke. I'm just thankful tho for the insurance I do have even tho it stinks. Been missing seeing you post. Glad your doing ok. Guest guest
Wow...that's a lot.  Don't you have Medicare and use a Medicare Supplement?  I use the local one and don't pay a dime.  The prescriptions are no more then $6. I'm not sure how all these insurances work.  I've used medicade supplement since I first got disability.  Had to recently change it due to my doctor not using it anymore but the Senior Dimensions let me in.  I think these things are local for folks.  Nice to have but like I said.  Poorly understood for my poor brain.. Guest guest
Re: fentanyl patch When I first went on the patch which was 50mcg, I put it on my chest and varied it from side to side. I was so nauseated. Then I found out it was better to put it on my upper arm. Eventually they have it worked it up to 100mcg. I am doing quite well with it now but it took a long time to get used to it.I also use another narcotic and lyrica which works the best for my neuropathy I will be going to a new pain Dr. as the one i had left town so will see what we can do to get more pain relief. I like the Mylan brand the best as it sticks better for me. Lois > Not a patch but long acting Morphine. Guest guest
and Diane, I have been on the fentanyl patch for a couple of years now. It doesn't take the pain away completely, but really helps. I have never had any nausea or drowsiness from it, but it's very important to start at a low dose and increase gradually. Ditto what Lois said: the Mylan brand is much smaller, thinner and stays on better than others, although some strengths are too expensive for my insurance for some reason. I read a couple of days ago that Colleen put all kinds of stuff over it when she bathed. I have no idea why that would be necessary???? I bathe, swim etc. With no problem. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Is it true that the patch is the same as taking a gabapentin pill or Hydrocondine pill Alanna Wilgus wrote: > > and Diane, > I have been on the fentanyl patch for a couple of years now. Guest guest
linda, no it is not true. gabapentin did not do anything but make me act and feel like a retarded person. hydrocodone (vicodin) is a short term med that lasts 4 to 6 hrs. fentanyl is a long term med that lasts for days. it is also at least 2 steps higher on the pain relief than vicodin. my doc would not give me the patch. she says my pain has to be worse (whatever that means). To go from vicodin to oxycontin then to the patch. but she hardly ever prescribes oxycontin coz of the fed scrutiny and paperwork involved so right now I make do. I was up to 180 vicodin a month so weaned off them last year. lately just taking ty 3's tho i have some vicodin left for the breakthroughs... but some people have good luck with gabapentin so it is worth a try. lyrica is also prescribed for pain and hear some new non-narco meds are coming out. tramadol is another alternative i have been on it in the past it is not real strong but last 12 hrs if you get the extended release (brand name) ones. good for those still working i would think... later, chris from the wilds of Indy (yee haw, green acres) > > > > From: Diane Franco <Franco775@... <mailto:Franco775%40msn.com>> > > Subject: RE: (unknown) > > To: " hugs and pain at yahoo " <hugs-n-pain > > <mailto:hugs-n-pain%40yahoogroups.com>> > > Date: Saturday, February 20, 2010, 1:19 PM > > > > Hi....I am curious, how many of you all are on or have been on the > > Fetenal patch. Guest guest
I think we let this go too long.  I think my doc got a little scared...like... " Oh, God...what are we doing for your osteopenia " ....well...I won't know the results until the first of next month but I bet it's not real good. The pain is the dull that is described from compression fractures.  The new radiating pain is new now....along with the RSD type of pain. Plus..the muscle and joint pain are out of site anymore.  I think he was going with the idea fibro doesn't progress that much even tho a lot of fibro folks would argue the point, but this crap is progressive. Man..I can hardly walk sometimes it's so bad.  Fibro would give you an occasional break but not the case anymore.  Man...why the hell did I have to get all of this together?  Wasn't just one or two items enuff already?!?! I'm so tired of the pain.  I'm afraid to move sometimes but I still do what I can physically. I had one less than 2 years ago but have had so much pain from all my medical conditions that I went to the dr. one day about 4 months ago crying with back pain and she was very upset. I STARTED WITH HER ABOUT 9 months ago. I was very swaybacked but I thought it was due to bad posture due to having Polio. Not so! I have lost 2 inches and after a Thorasic Spine x-ray, they found several old and several new breaks or fractures in spine plus Bone Density Test showed I am in the very highest rick catagory for fractures and have severe osteoporosis. Less than 2 years ago I had very mild osteopenia. Now I have to give myself a shot of Forteo EVERYDAY and be very careful and try to do weight bearing exercises. Guest guest
My last two days absolutely SUCKED!!  The pain level got bad enough my poor heart was skipping beats all over the place.  When I got the pain level down it simmered down...but crap.  When it gets really bad I have nasty nightmares.  Mostly it's ok but sometimes those pain levels just go too high.  Should improve some now.  I picked up my break thru pain meds just a bit ago.  Man...I HATE pain.  I wonder what it be like to just wake up feel normal.  I remember with the Fibro it would do that now and again but those days are behind me.  They all suck now.  I don't know what I'd do with normal!! My son and I are going on vacation to see number one son and his aunt in Washington and I'm looking forward to the drive.  Head clearing time.  Leave on the 8th.  His aunt has similar pain problems like me with fibro ad has diabetes on top of it.  We always have something in common to yak about as well as a lot of other goodies.  My number one son takes care of her like my number two son helps takes care of me. Lotacats “I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul.†Twitter_follow me http://twitter.com/LotacatsFunPix Express Chronic Pain Awareness http://www.cafepress.com/lotacatspix/5815010 Lotacatsfunpix.com http://www.lotacatsfunpix.com/ Deviantart http://lotacats05.deviantart.com/ Facebook http://www.facebook.com/#/profile.php?ref=name & id=1030129414 Subject: (unknown) To: Hugs-N-Pain Date: Sunday, June 27, 2010, 11:21 AM  hi everbody i hope everbody is haveing a less pain day donnie

I think the hardest on me.. is not being able to keep my house as clean as I would want. When I had to go to the ER it was the all time low for me. I have never taken an ambulance ride and I got the ambulance drivers from hell. Guest guest
I know what you mean when you say you get the " Professionals from hell " type of thing.  Clinics will do that to a painer.   It's unreal that medical people don't understand the nature of pain and that it's the body's " Red Alarm " that will not turn off and the body begins to react the stress that it causes the body to go thru without end. Laughing at Fibro!! Since when did this start to happen?  Did someone decide it was joke material?!  They probably put it right up there with " all in hour head " or " women's disease " ....or some other thing to make fun of because some idiots don't understand. This is good, however.  If you can get enough of the right people together to take the test.“The Fibromyalgia Clothespin Challenge: Awareness at Your Fingertipsâ€http://ipentimento.com/i-challenge-you-to-try-this-pain-test/ Lotacats “I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul.†Twitter_follow me http://twitter.com/LotacatsFunPix Express Chronic Pain Awareness http://www.cafepress.com/lotacatspix/5815010 Lotacatsfunpix.com http://www.lotacatsfunpix.com/ Deviantart http://lotacats05.deviantart.com/ Facebook http://www.facebook.com/#/profile.php?ref=name & id=1030129414 Subject: (unknown) To: Hugs-N-Pain Date: Sunday, June 27, 2010, 11:21 AM  hi everbody i hope everbody is haveing a less pain day donnie
