Guest guest
Sharlene,Have you tried printing them with no form? The red ink supposedly doesn't scan into the CMS software, only the pertinent information. So as long as the pertinent info prints out where it would normally be on the form, I don't know if you have to have a form? Always worth a try at least once to see, IMO. Why buy forms if you don't have to? Pratt We get them from www.justcms1500forms.com. And our MC carrier will not process them if you try to print your own with red ink.---Sharlene > > Good afternoon everyone, > I was wondering where you order from and how you print out a cms 1500 claim form? Guest guest
I file electronically, too. I have done it both ways for secondaries, but I usually print them in a preprinted 1500 form because I have them. When the current form becomes extinct, I may try sending with no form and see what happens. What I really need to d is take the time to figure out how to electronically bill my secondaries. Pratt We bill Medicare electronically, but I was relaying the experience of an IMP friend who tried printing her forms in red ink when she first started, and they all bounced back. I don't know about trying to print them without the form. We use the 1500s when doing paper bills for secondaries, when we have to send the primary EOB with it. Do you print those without the form in the background?---Sharlene > > > > Good afternoon everyone, > > I was wondering where you order from and how you print out a cms 1500 > claim form? Guest guest
I know that there is a way to do it through our clearinghouse, I have just never taken the time to learn because I have so few that don't cross over automatically. And I usually contact the patients to ask the secondary to contact Medicare so that they will. I think the clearinghouse somehow attaches the primary eob to the claim. And I have secondaries that are not secondary to Medicare, which are the majority of the few paper claims that I send each month (about 5-6). Pratt , I could send the 1500 electronically to the secondaries, but they won't pay without Medicare's EOB, and I don't trust them to be able to match them up if they are sent separately. If you figure out a way that works, let me know. We satisfy ourselves by bugging our patients until they call their secondaries to arrange automatic crossover of the bill from Medicare, whenever possible. Some companies say they can't, though.---Sharlene > > > > > > Good afternoon everyone, > > > I was wondering where you order from and how you print out a cms 1500 > > claim form? Guest guest
and Sharlene,I have seen almost all Medicare patients' claims crossover to secondary insurances by Medicare ( Palmetto for CA). All came back with ERA. A few patients have two PPO commercial insurances. Some got crossover, others not. I also need to figure out how to have all 2nd crossover by the primary. It has been a puzzle between billing software ( Kareo ) and the insurances. They all say it is the other side that not set up for automatic crossover. It is funny because one couple both have Blue Cross PPO. The left hand doesn't recognize the right hand. Go figure. I end up either print and send out the CSM 1500 or just let it go sometimes. Guest guest
Hi Sharlene, For the a few patients with 2 PPO insurances, I have half of them automatically cross overed. Like Blue shield to Blue Cross, but not BC to BC. Wired, isn't it? The problem is I don't know how to have the other half fixed! No one can tell me how, especially the insurance. I agree I shouldn't let the money go away, but it is frustrating for me that simple electronical work can't be done. So I move on if it is like $10, or I send out paper claims if more, then I wait and wait... Have a great weekend. Wen Wen, we have never had commercial primary and secondary insurances cross over automatically. We always send the paper bill because I cannot bear to let any money I'm entitled to get away!---Sharlene > > > > > > > > > > Good afternoon everyone, > > > > > I was wondering where you order from and how you print out a cms 1500 > > > > claim form? Guest guest
I paper file if they don't automatically cross over. Under your contracts, you are supposedtomake a " good faith effort " to collect the amount owed by the patient. Those $10 write-offs really add up! For the few minutes it takes me to print the Eob and staple it to a 1500 and drop it in the mail ( I do this once or twice per month for a total of about 5-6 claims), it is worth the reimbursement. If you have $20/mo even that you are writing off, that's $240 that you could be using . I rarely have troubles with the secondaries paying. Guest guest
Agreed. Secondaried is better if reimbursed, patients like it. That is the reason they keep two PPOs. It often means more effort for medical office to collect the copay /coinsurance part from the 2nd payer. Sometimes I suspect it might be the insurance companies not taking the effort to have them automatically crossed over. Because if Medicare can, why not the others. I should try to collect what I am entitled to. Wen I paper file if they don't automatically cross over. Guest guest
My 2 cents....Medicare requires red ink print format be present on both the front and BACK of the HCFA1500 form....
